Author Marjorie Sharmat's sense of humor as expressed through the characters is hilarious, so this is one of the few childhood books I would be interested in re-reading.
Example: "A piece of celery landed on our table. Ronald threw it back."

Thad is such a nice boy, but certainly not at all too good to be true. I want to get to know Ellen better; I hope she's going to be ok. Well, she probably will, because all these kids learned how to be more supportive classmates and friends. At least, that's the theme adults will take from it. Kids will mostly just laugh. This would be a good book to read aloud to your class (or family).
