On the Day His Daddy Left tells the story of a boy who is going through his parents divorce. Understandably he is very upset, and worries that it is his fault. He writes this on a note that he keeps with him at all times. Eventually, his mother reads the note and she writes on it that it is not his fault and tells him to look at the note whenever he feels that it is. I thought this was a very touching book, and also very relatable. Children who are experiencing divorce in their family often think it is their fault, and need that reminder that it is not.

Another book about divorce. In this book he writes a letter to his teachers, friends and mother and father asking if it his fault. Very insightful on how the power of divorce can affect a child's perspectives.
Critique:
Genre: This story is very typical for many children. The child wonders if his father is leaving and his parents are getting a divorce because of him. It is extremely realistic for children to feel like a divorce is their fault, and for them to struggle with how to handle it. The story is important because it explains divorce from the child's perspective.
Plot: The climax of the story is when the reader finally gets to know the question that Danny had been asking throughout the whole story: "Is it my fault?" The plot is based on the day that Danny's dad leaves. He asks everyone his question (his teacher, his dad, and his mom). The problem is how upset and sad Danny is with his parents getting a divorce. It is never resolved, show more except that to realize its not his fault, and that he will always have questions, but it is always okay to ask them. show less

This is a book about a young boy who's parents divorced. Throughout the story he holds onto a note that says its his fault, however when his mom reads it, she writes on the back of the paper that it isn't. She tells him to pull out the note whenever he feels like it is his fault. Good bibliotherapy book to help kids handling divorce.

This story is very typical for many children. Danny thought he was the contributing factor in his parents divorce. To this end he wrote a secrect question "Is it my fault". He showed it to four individuals: his teacher, his friend Cindy, his dad and finally his mom. The adults all gave him the same answer, but his mom went one better. She wrote on the back "ITS NOT YOUR FALUT". Furthemore, she told him to keep it and everytime he felt that way to read the question and the answer, which: eventually gave Danny a clear piece of mind.
