I am an obsessive collector of anything Terry Pratchett ever wrote, which explains why I spent £10.99 plus postage on a diary that is twelve years out of date. Until today the Reformed Vampyre's Diary 2003 was one of four Discworld diaries that I still had to collect and as soon as it arrived this morning I couldn’t wait to start reading :)

The diaries always have a theme focusing on a particular aspect of the Discworld, and for this diary the theme was the vampires (or vampyres) of the Disc. As it is an actual diary the written content is very limited but there is an introduction from the president of the Uberwald League of Temperance, followed by a nice section detailing the rules of the League, various classes show more that can be taken to fit into human society, jobs that can be undertaken in full evening dress, and ending with some inspirational hymms for vampyres ('Blood is all in Vein' and 'A Cup of Tea is Just as Good').

Throughout the diary little notes appear on the pages, some with motivational slogans such as, 'Don't let your darker side take root; be bloodless, bold and resolute.' Paul Kidby also provides some wonderful sketches on many of the pages, some clearly parodies of other famous vampires from history, film or literature. For example we have Count Bela de Magpyr (Bela Lugosi) and Lowehof von Kreuzfahrt (whose sketch looks suspiciously like Tom Cruise as the vampire Lestat).
I am so pleased to have acquired this diary to add to my collection, only three left to get now!
