The Guardians are back and this time, stronger than ever! Betrayed continues where Awakened left off. With more action, secrets, arguments, a new romance and a betrayal, this book will keep you turning the pages to find out what happens next and to whom. With the air of mystery, I found myself absorbed and trying to piece things together, never believing my favorite character could honestly have been the betrayer. Don't ask who it is, as I wouldn't want to spoil anything...

I really do enjoy Ednah Walter's writing style. I find her storyline captivating and she creates characters that are enjoyable and fun to know. Sykes - oh he's a card that will make you laugh - how could you not love him? And Bran, he's just dreamy with a bit of "bad show more boy" in him that makes him mysterious. Then there's Lil... The strong and growing more powerful heroine. All of Ednah's characters have qualities you either love or love to hate.

If you haven't read Awakened yet, make sure you do! It sets the stage for Betrayed. You could squeak by and read this as a stand alone, but there's so much you'll be missing out on. If you love Young Adult, Angels, Demons, a fan of books like Twilight (Meyer) or Angel Burn (Weatherly), you will enjoy this series.

Betrayed jumps back into the action with the Cardinal Guardian trainees we met in Awakened (read my review here). Lil, who had to deal with her entire life being turned upside down in Awakened, really seems to have things together at the start of Betrayed. Then she receives a cryptic phone call from her demonic father that leaves her wondering if someone she thought she could trust is actually betraying her.

I was so excited to catch up with Lil and all her friends. I really liked Lil from the first time I met her in Awakened, and I have thoroughly enjoyed watching her character grow and mature over the course of this series. Things with boyfriend Bran are rocky at times during Betrayed, but without getting super angsty. I love that Lil show more doesn’t take his crap and almost always stands up for herself. I also couldn’t get enough when it came to her interactions with fellow trainee, Sykes. He is probably my favorite character in this series. His attitude and sense of humor makes it difficult to not become smitten by him

The world Ednah Walters has created is so cool! I dug the diverse group of demon bad guys sent to face off with Lil and her crew. The characters battling it out with a variety of demons, each with unique strengths and weaknesses, really helped to keep the action sequences from becoming redundant. One of my favorite things about Awakened was all the super cool powers the characters possessed. In Betrayed those powers have become even stronger, and I was really digging how kick ass this made all the characters when they fought the previously mentioned demons. As for Lil’s powers, you don’t want to miss out on how they’re evolving. She is definitely a force to be reckoned with. Betrayed contains loads of action and battles that will have readers on the edge of their seats. This made for a very quick moving pace that worked perfectly for the story.

There is more to this series than just fierce fights and demon hunting. Lil and Bran have such an intense connection. It was disheartening seeing them argue and bicker during Betrayed. Everyone was so stressed about finding the mysterious list and it showed. Bran’s behavior was also a little shady at times and definitely had me doubting his intentions. Bran’s shadiness was one of the key elements that kept me reading. I was dying to discover what the boy was up to and hoping he wasn’t the one betraying the lovely Lil.

If you’re into stories of the good guys and the bad guys battling it out (and don’t mind a little romance with your action), I really suggest you give this series a try!

This book was brilliant. I have read several books about angels that have been good, but typically, I have not really been drawn to this type of story. After reading the blurb about Betrayed, I was intrigued and interested in the book, and I absolutely loved it. Lil is 16 years old, part Nephilim, part human, part demon..yes...and she is the Chosen, a Guardian in training, and one kick-butt heroine. She and her friends and fellow Guardians go to high school by day, blending in with the humans, while their nights are spent either at the academy training and/or teaching, or out demon hunting. It seems that everybody wants a piece of Lil, and her Grandpa, who she lives with and who is one of the leaders, has forbidden her from leaving the show more valley for her own protection. Her hot, Hot, HOT boyfriend Bran, begins acting strange and keeping secrets from her to. On top of that her father, who is a demon, contacts her and begins to plant seeds of doubt in her head regarding who she can trust, while her best friend Kylie, who is human, also begins acting strange. With the help of her friends, Remy (swoon), Izzy, Kim, Celeste, and the oh so yummy, melt in your mouth Sykes, she is determined to find out what is going on and determined to do whatever it takes to save the ones she loves. The question is, how far is she willing to go towards the dark side to accomplish this, and will she and those she loves survive?

Betrayed is one of those books that captures your attention from the first page and and keeps it until the last. There are quite a few characters in the book and I loved and felt connected to them all. The were all written well, and in fact, I even loved to hate the bad ones. Ednah Walters has taken the world of mythology and added her own twist to it, which is both exciting and imaginative, and created a world where these mythological characters are also teenagers that you can relate to and enjoy. I loved Sykes, not only is he super hot, he is really funny. I also really liked Celeste, Bran's sister, who was quite unique, and I thought her character added a lot to the story. The romance between Lil and Bran is really hot, and despite their issues, they truly love one another. Then, there is the action. With all the different classes of demons and angels, you are continually awed by the supernatural beings you encounter in the story. There are some intense battle scenes and Bran, Lil, and the others can really kick butt. This novel was fast-paced, creative, and incorporated just the right amount of humor and romance that makes Betrayed one of those books that keeps you turning the pages to see what happens next, with unique twists that keep you guessing. I found myself up to the wee hours of the morning without realizing it. If you love books about angels and demons, or are a fan of mythology, you will definitely love this book. If you love fantasy and romance, then I think this book would be something you would enjoy, and if you haven't read many books of this nature, then Betrayed is definitely one I would recommend. Betrayed is a great book by a great author and I look forward to reading more in this series.

Beautifully written Urban Fantasy that revolves around the Nephilim. Now I have not read the first in the series, though I plan to soon. I was able to follow along just fine without any real pressing questions.

I really found myself liking Lil. She is strong, caring, and full of compassion. There is no quick judgement, even when her father tries to plant deceit in her mind or Bran does *something*. It doesn't mean she doesn't feel anger or hurt, but she understands especially when it comes to Bran.

Onto Bran, I felt a connection with him, and talk about a book crush. But pressing beyond the mental image I saw a man who was often torn between his love for Lil and well his love for Lil (no spoiler, sorry).

At the heart of these two show more characters is a wonderful plot that engages the visual mind. Lots of fighting, and swooning moments. I look forward to reading both the first, and third book. show less
I'll start with the obvious by saying that it's probably a lot easier for people to get into this book if they've read the first in the series, Awakened. Betrayed pretty much kicks off where the first ends, just a little time passes - Lil is training and pretty much being the kick-ass heroine that she was in Awakened, just more knowledgeable and a lot more disciplined.

I think I can honestly say that Lil is one of my favorite female leads, with all of the traits that you want a strong female lead to have. She's smart, strong, loyal and doesn't know how to back down. She's also not invincible and has a softer side that we can all relate to. Bran is a little shady in this book, but I have to admit that his actions are what kept me show more intrigued the most. I was also a fan of Sykes, and enjoyed the interaction with him and Lil in this book.

The action was incredible and I'm glad we got to see a good bit of that in the story. The plot went right along swimmingly well and, even though I thought I was a genius and figured out everything before the end of the book, I was cleverly fooled and left completely shocked. Lots of action, lots of good versus evil and a little bit of romance sprinkled into the mix - Betrayed is pretty much my perfect sequel to a great urban fantasy-type series.

If you've read Awakened, then you definitely want to pick up this book. If you haven't, you definitely want to pick up this book. It's a great read!

Betrayed is the second in the series and after enjoying Awakened l was excited to see where Ednah would take this series. I am really glad that l read Betrayed, not only did l enjoy it more than Awakened (l did still really enjoy Awakened) but l felt it wasn’t one of those books which feels like it’s a bit ..pointless. Lately l feel a lot of authors just bring out a second in the series because everyone else is but Ednah made Betrayed a gripping read which did a great job of extending on Awakened but also making them both their own books.

I do have to admit, as much as I like Lil and how very real she feels she did sadly annoy me at some points in this book. Only for a small and simple reason but l found her show more moods and feelings to be very confused. Although she was going through a hard time l often felt for Bran because of how she was often hot and cold for no reason and l was unsure if this was done on purpose. At some points she would be all over him and then at other times be avoiding him for, what l thought, was no reason and if there was a reason it was a selfish reason.
Aside from that one negative thing this whole book, like l said above, Ednah did a great job of building on the characters from Awakened. I liked being able to get to know Bran and the rest of the gang more, this really added to Betrayed and helped me to create a ‘bond’ with them. The bond which I created with the characters made me enjoy the book more as well as understand their actions better than before.

Overall Betrayed is a great book which is definitely worth a read! The storyline was a fast paced one which kept me guessing throughout the book and engrossed. What l love about this book is about how a lot of it is about friends coming together and caring for each other. I found it very refreshing.

Lil and Bran's relationship is full steam ahead. There are many huggy and kissy scenes. Then the relationship takes a detour and goes downhill. They are keeping secrets and pulling away from each other. While the relationship is in trouble, Lil is trying to deal with a demonic father who is trying to sway her to his side. He is evil and she is good.

The actions becomes more intense about 2/3 of the way into the book. I enjoyed this book. I would recommend it to older YA readers, because of the descriptive make out sessions. ;0)
