This one had a delightful element of danger. I loved how Mandycand James, along with their new friend James, handled the urgency of helping Connie and stopping the horse thieves. There was excitement throughout this book.

Another AWESOME Animal Ark book! Mandy and James, while on vacation in Ireland, discover a wild group of ponies on the beach. The foal of the lead pony has a tight rope-halter around her face, so small that it is cutting into her skin and will soon kill her if someone doesn't get it off. But these are wild ponies, so it's not like Mandy can just walk right up and help the little foal. She has to figure out a safe way to help, and that isn't easy. And who put that halter on the foal in the first place? Mandy thinks it may have been someone from a group of horse smugglers who try to steal the wild ponies and sell them internationally. As always, Mandy's devotion to the animals and her stubborn willingness to try show more anything to help them really warmed my heart. I got nervous when it was revealed who the horse smugglers were, and excited when Mandy came to the rescue once again. Another wonderful book in the series. show less

Ben M. Baglio was born in New York in 1960, and grew up in a small town in New Jersey. Baglio studied English Literature at the University of Pennsylvania. After graduation, he worked as a children's book editor in New York City. Five years later, a job at publishing house in England became available and he moved there to accept the position. Some show more time after that, Baglio decided to try his own hand at writing and created the characters of Mandy Hope and James Hunter. Their adventures became known as the Animal Ark series. The books originally were published in England, under the pseudonym Lucy Daniels, and have since gone on to be published in the USA and translated into 15 languages. There is also a live-action television series based on the books in England. Some of Ben Baglio's titles are The Brave Bunny, Sheepdog In The Snow, and Spaniel in a Stocking.
