I've been feeling romantic lately and grabbed this book from one of my TBR lists. I read it in one sitting and enjoyed it so much that I've re-read it two more times since the first round.
Abby is my kind of girl who is spunky, responsible and family oriented. She cares deeply for others and tries to do the best for her younger sibling. Most times this means sacrificing the things she wants to provide stability for her sister and her niece.
Dominic, on the other hand, is an emotional black hole and tornado all rolled into one very chaotic and miserable package. When he meets Abby sparks fly and they are off to the races in a very intense, yet emotionally revealing, character-driven storyline that kept me riveted.

I downloaded this from Bookbub as a freebie, and while it was a good read, it could have been great. The first four chapters are the appropriate pace, and are interesting. The sexual tension between the main characters is great, and the Maid was strong willed, grounded, and very likeable.
The reason for the three star review instead of four or five comes from the fact that once the characters have overcome their differences the conflict in the story becomes rushed, and it seemed like the author was trying to 'hurry up and get finished'. This story could have been fantastic, but many of the potential conflicts that were set up well were not followed through with.
I would read more stuff from this author, but I don't know if I would pay to show more read more of this series. show less

Dominic, having heard that his estranged father has just died, tries to escape to one of his boltholes, only to find his housekeeper (actually her sister), in the place cleaning. When she doesnt behave the way he wants or expects, he realises that he's come upon exactly the person he needs in his life right now.
There is an instant attraction between the pair, despite his arrogance and bullish behaviour. The next few days are a whirlwind, taking Abby into a world she's never known, facing both Dominic's sister at the reading of their father's will, and an emergency trip to China to recover a major business deal. There are threats that Abby faces but wonders - perhaps too late - whether she's in over her head and done the right thing.
This is the first in the series, so there are some strings left untied (the issue over the will and Dominic's sister and you can see that some other relationships have started in order to be carried over into other books), which is fairly standard in series. Not entirely sure I'm happy with the "kidnapping is sexy" scenarios (I'm sure there's a Feminism diatribe in there somewhere if I tried hard enough, but I wont). Some of the scenes are a little "racy" but should be acceptable to all but the most easily offended show less

The story starts out with Dominic expressing a note of bitterness towards his father. “By dying now, his father has won again. That old bastard.” This sentence at once identifies him as a rebellious son, a man bent on hating the idea of family, which explains his rigid ideal in a relationship. No promises. No complications. Just sex.
Given this starting point, will his budding attraction to Abby bring about a change in him? Will he mature into a man who embraces not only her, but the very idea of a family? And will Abby become more resilient by daring to take risks in their new relationship?
Beyond being an enjoyable romance, this book presents a clash of personalities and the ways they compliment each other, and help each other show more mature and become stronger through the twists and turns of the plot.

This enjoyable read is like a re-telling of the movie "Pretty Woman." Dominic is a handsome, sexy, and single billionaire whose life is crumbling after his father's death, his sister's bitterness, and the stress of an international business deal. Needing a break, he seeks refuge in a brownstone he owns but hasn't visited in years. Dominic walks in to find a beautiful maid carrying linens. He's lonely and needs someone to talk to, so they share dinner and conversation. The next day, he finds out his "maid" is really a school teacher who was filling in for her sister (his real maid) who was home sick. He can't get Abby out of his mind, so when he has to travel to China for business, he invites her to join him for what he expects will be a show more short-lived, fun affair. Abby, who is normally responsible and uptight, decides to live a little and accepts Dominic's offer. (After all, she's off for summer break.) Little do they know that while in China, Abby will uncover a plot to destroy Dominic's business, help him launch his first philanthropic effort, and that they will fall in love with each other.
This delightful romance has it all: great characters, witty dialogue, an actual plot (beyond the romance between Dominic and Abby), steamy romantic scenes, and a happily-ever-after ending. The pacing is perfect; it's hard to put down. The ending is predictable, and it's hard to swallow their declarations of love after a mere week together, though. The last chapter leaves you waiting to read the second book in the series. show less

Solid 3 stars, cute, clean, sweet romance. The only improbability is a Chinese military plane flying through multiple countries in order to retrieve our heroine from Italy(?) within few hours. Private plane, - sure. Military plane? Hell, no. They don't fly willy nilly through other countries air space without express permission. And that would have taken more than a couple of hours to obtain considering the amount of countries it would have crossed.
I read this book after reading The Broken One, book one in the Corisi Billionaires series. I realized there was a lot of history and back story to catch up. So I decided to start with this book, the first of the Legacy series that started it all. And it turns out to essentially be the same book. There are VERY strong similarities between the progression of the relationship between Dominic and Abby and Sebastian and Heather.
This book is OK. But I realize that it’s a bit dated and it’s the first work of this author and she has come a long way. I want to continue learning about this background so I will continue reading the series. But it looks like I will like some of the newer stuff better than the older stuff. This story was pretty show more short and it seems like a lot of details were left out. It was hard to see how these two fell in love so quickly. But I do think future books will feel a bit more complete show less
