The basic plots (which involve rescuing the crew of a spacecraft stranded in Earth orbit) are broadly similar, but changing a Mercury spacec... (show all)raft with a single astronaut (1964) into an Apollo spacecraft with a three-member crew (1969) introduces two new major characters and substantially changes the dynamics of the story.

The 1964 and 1969 versions should not, therefore, be combined with one another.
