evocative, cinematic illustrations bulk up bare-bones short stories about growing up in Israel. semi-autobiographical. Quiet, quick to read and worth your time.
very minimal graphic style makes this book very appealing. these are the equivalent of comic book poems and they work well as such. the stories are dark and emotive but are told with a lot of taste.
Not entirely convincing semi-autobiographical graphical. Three episodes that too-artsy drawings attempt to fill out. Just didn't do it for me. Disappointing.
