3 1/2 stars. Voodoo or Die (aka Finding Your Mojo), the second in Stephanie Bond's Voodoo series (and last, it seems, at least so far), was better than the first - the characters were a bit more developed (in part because we met most of them in the first book, I suspect). The two books must be read in order - various aspects of the second book build off the resolution of he first. Still pretty light, but I enjoyed it.
I really don't know why I bothered reading this again. It was just passable. A lot of the story was not plausible at all and so many of the characters seemed one-dimensional. Their motivation was not explained at all. And the ending was a bit too neat. Gloria "finds' her mother, Zane comes back to her and the mob boss who's after her is killed. All on the same day? Really? And I'm sorry, I don't care how much surgery she's had, if you last saw your mother 10 to 15 years ago and had been living with her until then, you should recognize her. No more Bond for me!
After finishing the first book in the series, I immediately purchased this one and was not disappointed. I loved this one even better than the first one mainly because I felt more attached to the romantic story line in this one. I really wanted them to get the happy ending.
The author did a good job of keeping the quirky feel of Mojo but without having to read the first book before reading this one. The supporting characters didn't lose any of their spunk.
The only complaint I have on this book is I wish there were more books in this series to read.

the 2nd book in the "Mojo" series. This one delves into Gloria, the attorney who represented Penny in the 1st book "In Deep Voodoo" Gloria has moved here from New Orleans in the WITSEC program. Enter the new Chief of Police (Zane) who was Gloria's 1st boyfriend in her previous life years ago. Trying to hide her true identity & trying not to get murdered in the eccentric little town makes for a great read full of mystery, romance, & intrigue.
Lawyer in Witness Protection relocates to a small town outside of New Orleans only to have death after death follow her. As soon as she moves to this town she realizes that the sherif is the boy she left behind when she had to go into Witness Protection when she was a kid. She knows him, he takes a while to figure out it's her. Cute twist at the end. Fun read.
I just couldn't take all the focus on the main character's sexual desire for her long-lost love. It really interfered with the story for me and I just wasn't in the mood to wade through (or skim through) it... I may try this again sometime in the future but for now it is a DNF.
