I enjoyed this short, fun story. Eliza is a sixteen year girl in way over her head, and she calls to the Goblin King for help. Though nothing sexual or untoward happens (it shouldn't because the girl is only a kid), it is a prequel to the Eliza and Roan's main story, which I would love to read.
GREAT BEGINNING
this was a great introduction a short prequel into what will be the main story of the Goblin King. It was well written and does what it says on the tin, in short gives you a real incentive to read the main novel which I am now looking forward to a very short but good start.

Summons is a prequel to the upcoming novel, The Goblin King by Shona Husk. It's a short story that literally took me less than 30 minutes to read. However it was enough to wet my appetite and left me wanting more. Summons is about a girl named Eliza. She finds herself in a situation that's way over her head. In her ignorance she accidentally summons the goblin king, Roan. Goblins aren't known for their generous nature. They are a tricky bunch who always want something in return. They might grant your wish but not in the way you want. There is a lot of mystery surrounding Roan. Shona Husk gives you just a peek inside this mysterious character. I honestly can't wait to read The Goblin King to find out more about him. Summons is a great show more teaser. The Goblin King is now on my wish list. show less

This novella is a prequel to Goblin King. It tells the story of how Roan and Eliza originally met when she was a teenager. I had already read Goblin King, so I knew she summoned Roan to help her out of a bad situation at a party where her brother's drunk friend was trying to force his attentions on Eliza. I'm not sure if I would have liked it as much had I not read Goblin King and already been invested in the characters, but it's a great introduction to the Shadowlands books.

This was a brief introduction into the world of the Goblin King. Although I feel you could read the rest of the series without this nice little morsel, I would recommend reading it anyway. In this little preview, you come to learn about the legend of the Goblin King through a wish that Eliza makes for him to take her away. But does she know what she is really asking? Does she really want to be taken by a goblin?
This book was like a tasty little chocolate. Just enough to let you know it was good, but small enough that you wanted more. It did not end in a cliff hanger so that was a definite plus. I will go on to sample the rest of show more this series, one taste was not enough!

I wanted to. I love paranormal books, and anything other than vampires and werewolves always catches my interest. However, for some reason, this didn't really grab me. I don't know why, I wish I did. However, I have decided to set it aside and pick it up again later. It may be that I just wasn't in the mood for it when I read this prequel chapter. I may get into the whole book and really love it. If I do, I am happy to change my review.
