This is an edition worth paying attention to! It is well cited, well indexed, and the table of contents is quite detailed. The connection to the Common Core (CC) will be of great assistance to those wishing to augment their understanding of what constitutes reading within the guidelines of the CC. Consider this a ready reference, use it to develop a collection, use it for reader's advisory.
This publication is a part of a series of readers’ advisory tools that help the teacher librarian do effective assistance with reading selection. Organized by topic, each entry is listed not only by subject but by grade level suitability – something that will help customize who gets what to read as well as assist with collection development. Covering a plethora of titles from 2009 to 2011, these tomes will date quickly, but are definitely a welcome start to readers’ advisory and to building collections by grade level and topic. There is an excellent index in each volume, and each entry strives to present an annotation of what the reader will encounter as well as information about the book the teacher librarian can use. Recommended.
