As a senior in high school, Darcy Tremayne had been in a car wreck that killed her prom date, Josh. Josh had been her best friend for years. Most avoided him due to his "gift". But Darcy loved Josh like a brother. When Josh died, he passed his gift on to Darcy.
Matt Stone does not believe in ghosts. But too many were convinced his home, a historic Virginia estate that dated back to the Revolutionary War, was haunted. The strange happenings began to worsen. And whatever ghost haunted the Lee Room, had become physically harmful to the living. Matt finally agreed to let Harrison Investigations explore the house. But Darcy was more than he ever expected.

Outstanding! Heather Graham has done an excellent job in creating believable characters show more and setting them in a spine chilling setting. Do not begin reading this one until you have plenty of free time because you will NOT want to set it aside for even a brief period of time. Highly recommended! show less
Darcy Tremayne is a paranormal investigator sent to Melody House to see if it is haunted or something else is going on. Matt Stone owns the house and is adamantly opposed to any belief in ghosts, but needs to find out what is happening at the house and put to rest completely any ideas of paranormal activity there. Matt and Darcy are at loggerheads. Matt is suspicious and cynical but drawn to Darcy. Darcy is used to working with people that don't believe, but is determined to find out what is going on. Her interactions with the ghost don't follow the usual pattern and are increasingly violent. There are also human threats and accidents that suggest physical danger. The tension in this book was good but the cynicism of the hero and the show more lack of trust from the heroine lasted way too long. Both seemed to do an abrupt turn about to reach the conclusion. Could have been better. show less
Meet Adam Harrison, his son Josh died in an auto accident, and he begins searching the paranormal. He assigns investigator Darcy Tremayne to go to Stoneyville, Virginia. She is to determine if the manifestations occurring at Melody House are ghostly or living. Matt Stone, owner of Melody House, doesn't believe in ghosts.

Adam Harrison is the founder of FBI Krewe of Hunters (series of 35 books).

An entertaining read with an ending that surprised me.
Almost everyone in this story is haunted in some way. Some literal and some figuratively. Matt Stone doesn't believe in ghosts but his house seems to be haunted. It would be fine if it was just him but he's having issues with the fact that the apparent ghosts are driving away potential customers for his guest house business.

So her hires a paranormal investigator, Darcy Tremayne to look into what's happening, and she starts finding skeletons, literally. However she's quite sure that what's happening isn't ghostly but a real person.

The two of them are attracted to each other but who can Darcy trust in this small town?
I loved this book. The story takes place in VA in an estate called Melody House. Several visitors and staff have reported that they feel a ghost is residing in the Lee Room. The owner, Matt Stone, does not believe this for one minute yet he calls Harrison Investigations to explore the house. Thinking Adam Harrison will be the person to come, he is surprised when Darcy Tremayne shows up.
Darcy is a paranormal investigator and she enjoys her house. Yet, in this house she feels evil for the first time but she won't give up until she solves the mystery of who or what is causing these evil feelings.

Good mystery because I had no clue how this would end and was very surprised at the end. I love Heather Graham books and this one is no exception.
It's a good story and typical of Graham's work : a romance wrapped in a mystery with a heavy sprinkle of paranormal.
