I stepped outside of my comfort zone by reading this completely Spanish story with my kindergarten student who is learning English. I don't know Spanish and she doesn't know how to read, so we worked through this book together. Overall, I liked the book. It is a pattern book, which means it repeats a phrase on every page in order to familiarize the child with certain words. In this book, the phrase was "soy el agua". I liked the language in this book. It was short and simple and got straight to the point, which is developmentally appropriate. Each page highlights a different use or purpose for water, such as taking a bath or rain falling from the sky. This book taught my student some how to read some basic words as well as some show more information about water. I also liked the pictures in this book. They were cute and descriptive enough to help me decode what each page was saying. For example, I knew one page was about drinking water because it showed a hand lifting a glass of ice water. The main purpose of this book is to teach the reader some sight words as well as teach them about the different purposes of water. show less
Review:
I like this book for two reasons. The first reason is that vivid illustrations. They are bright and colorful, and use soft edges so that children may interpret them easily. The second reason is the story. The story follows water (agua) through its many different uses. The main idea of this book is to show the many ways water can be used.

This book was interesting to read. I liked this book for the language in it and the fact that it pushes readers. The language in this book is written in the Spanish language. This allows a variety of uses for this book. Students of any age that are learning Spanish as a secondary language can read this book to learn practice their Spanish skills. This book also can be used to push readers. I used this book in teaching a non-native English-speaking student about main ideas of a text. Reading this book in Spanish made this student feel more comfortable in understanding the text but still pushes the student to think about the main idea of the book, which is what water is needed for. The message of this book is that water is used in almost show more everything in life and that water is a necessity of life. show less
I am Water is a simple read for the preschool to first grade reading level. The book discusses the importance water has on everything. The illustrations are large and clear for readers to understand. The book stresses the importance of water with the last page stating,ā I am all that, and I am more. Watch me. Watch over me. I am water.ā The information is presented clearly with just about a sentence on each page. This is a great book to use in a shared reading activity. I would read the story to students as they follow along. Then, in individual groups, Iād have them read back to me.
the faux cut-paper illustrations are cute, but.... the limited palate makes all the kids white, even those who are probably meant to be other races.
I am home for the fish. I am rain for the earth. I am water. --This book explores the beauty and usefulness of water in its many forms.
a simple discussion of all the things that water is used for: drinking, bathing, animals live in it, and much more.
