Description

#1 New York Times bestselling author Christine Feehan tells the story of Abigail Drake, one of seven elementally gifted sisters who are fated to find great love.

As the third daughter in a magical bloodline, Abigail Drake was born with a mystical affinity for water, and possessed a particularly strong bond with dolphins. She spent her entire life studying them, learning from them, and swimming among them in the waters off her hometown of Sea Haven...

Until the day Abby witnessed a show more cold-blooded murder on shore, and found herself fleeing for her life—right into the arms of Alexsandr Volstov. He’s an Interpol agent on the trail of stolen Russian antiquities, a relentless man who gets what he goes after—and the man who broke Abby’s heart. But he isn’t going to let the only woman he ever loved be placed in harm’s way—or slip away from his embrace. show less

Completely predictable but very readable romance about one of seven sisters and the Russian man in her life. Abigail gets involved in an Interpol investigation where Alexsandr is the investigator. There's murder and magic involved and enough hooks into the stories of the other six sisters.
3.5 stars

Three Drake Sister books down; four to go! I liked this one more than the second in the series. There was more angst than I wanted, but Abbey and Sasha were a good couple, and I liked that another character with magic was introduced. I loved his scene with Joley, and I’m very much looking forward to their book.
The close-knit family and small-town coastal setting keep me coming back to this series, and unless Feehan does something really horrible, I’m sure I’ll read every book.

This is my least favorite book in the series. I always start off hating the hero, Aleksandr, for what he did to the heroine, Abbey, in the past. Then I start hating Abbey for pushing him away and making up lame excuses for why they can't be together.

I understand her being scared of his ruthless streak, but why continue to sleep with him, lean on him and lead him on? It isn't until later in the book that we realize why Aleksandr did what he did to protect Abbey, so most of the book they both annoyed me.

There are some good parts. I love the dolphins and the interactions between the sisters. I also love the glimpses of Jackson and Ilya.

The main relationship frustrates me. In the end, I'm not sure I fully believed they would in their HEA.
Oceans of Fire, book 3 in Christine Feehan's Drake Sisters series, is about Abigail Drake and Alexsandr Volstov.

Abby is the third daughter born into the magical Drake bloodline. She uses her special connection with water and dolphins in her work as a marine biologist. Abby travels the world researching and swimming with her dolphins, until her peace is shattered when she witnesses a murder.

While trying to elude the killers, she runs right into the arms of Alexsandr Volstov, a Russian Interpol agent, and the man that broke Abby's heart four years ago. Abby and Alexsandr must work together to find the people responsible for the murder, keep everyone in Sea Haven safe (including Abby's six sisters and meddling Aunt Carol) and struggle to show more get past the painful history of their failed relationship.

Oceans of Fire is the most exciting of the Drake Sisters books so far. The plot was fresh and dramatic, full of the kind of suspense that Christine Feehan does so well. The electrifying intrigue and fascinating characters made this a sensational story. As always, Feehan's writing is fabulous and had me enthralled from the first page. The Drake sisters are all so enchanting, and Feehan does an amazing job of giving the reader little pieces of all of each of their stories in every book, to build their stories slowly and make me want to read them all right away.

I've become addicted to this series - just as I was to Christine Feehan's Dark series - so now I have to finish out the Drake Sisters books before I can read anything else - it's like a compulsion! For now, I will have to be content with reading through book 6 (book 7 comes out later this year,) and I think the best is still yet to come. I can't wait to find out what happens with the other four Drake sisters: Libby, Hannah, Joley, and of course Elle.

This is a Paranormal Romance Novel and compared to others I've read in this genre it is a pretty typical storyline. But it is a solid series with well written characters and good stories. Abigail (Abby) Drake is one of seven sisters, all of whom have elemental magic. Alexsandr (Sasha) Volstov is a Interpol Agent and also an old flame of Abby's. I like that the other sisters still play a good part in other books that they aren't a main character in. I enjoy being able to read more about characters from other books. There was nothing about the characters that stood out to make them unbelievable. Abby and Sasha have a not so good past. So in the beginning there is a reluctance to admit to feels. Which made living with or being around the show more two uncomfortable for everyone else. There really wasn't just one character that was a favorite for me. I find foreign accents on guys to be very hot, so of course I loved Sasha. Abby while kinda annoying in the beginning cause of the constant dwelling on the past, redeems herself when she finally admits to feelings.

The scene I remember the most is when Abby takes Sasha to meet the dolphins. For me, even if at the time she wasn't admitting to herself that she wanted to be with him, it showed she was willing to give Sasha a chance by letting him into her world. She didn't take just anyone to see the dolphins. I didn't particularly care for the murder Abby witnessed in the beginning, but I understand that it is a necessary part of the story. There was nothing that stopped the flow. I really enjoyed the writing style.

Yes, I will continue this series and if you enjoy books with strong women dealing with magic I would recommend it.

This is the third book in this series. Abigail "Abby" is probably my least favorite of the sisters so far. She is so unsure and whiny sometimes. She has a wonderful career that she loves and she is very good at but she has very little confidence in her magic. Alksandr is very Russian and will make you drool. I was glad that he was so persistent and kept after Abby. She needs someone to watch after her and keep her out of trouble. Meeting Aunt Carol was wonderful. Aunt Carol is full of life and makes everyone happy. She is quite the character and adds a much need voice of maturity to the story. Jonas is his usual self, nagging at the girls and giving Aunt Carol a hard time about sticking her nose into what Alksandr is investigating. This show more isn't a bad story in anyway I just wish Abby had been a little more something. Off to read the next book in the series. show less

Epigraph
These things say she
Who holds the gift of the seven
Who walks at twilight
Holding the seven golden lamps

Seven sisters intertwined
Controlling elements of air, land and sea
Cannot control the fate they ... (show all)flee
One by one, oldest to last, destiny shall claim them

When the locked gate swings open in welcome
The first shall find true love
As the sisters stand in wonder
At what destiny has done

Within each sister's  heart now beats passion
While love turns a key
By the time the year is ended
Each will follow thee

Remember therefore from whence you came
Knowing that in the end it is the seventh
That will renew the line again
Seventh daughters of a seventh daughter

Each gifted each giving each tied to one another
For those who have ears let them hear
For those who have eyes let them see
For all that I have said shall come to be

To the eldest is gifted agility, grace
And the knowledge to see what future we face
Second in line speaks peace with a word
While the third calls truth from the unspoken word

Next comes the healer with hands that can find
That which is deadly and make it unbind
The fifth harnesses elements of air, wind and sea
As the sixth sister sings spell over thee

Last of the seven youngest of all
Possesses the greatest gift of them all
To her falls the bearing of children to be
So that the line will continue and forever more be

Each gift has a challenge which must be overcome
The seven free sisters must act now as one
With grace and agility comes great bodily fatigue
While speaking peace raises ire and continual need

The calling for truth from the unspoken word
Gives way to illusion for naught has been heard
She whose hands can undo death for another
Will take on the illness and hope to recover

The harnessing of wind tides and sea
Gives way for the unknown to be
As the spell singer sings casting her spell
One misspoken word and all's to no avail

For the seventh child of the seventh daughter
New corridors open holding illusion, power
But which path to take and where does it lead
Choices to make while each plants a seed

These things I have spoken so harken ye well
For lives you are changing with each casting of spell
But know in your heart when you must turn away
For some will be lost as it is destiny's way

Yours is a legacy not easily borne
So beware of the pitfalls and careful of thorns
The gifts they are many
Born from the past

Surviving the years for the future to last
From mother to daughters
And back through the line
The gifts that you carry always will bind
