Wow I'm so glad they changed the cover to do this book justice. I was immediately engrossed in the world Trisha Wolfe created in Destiny's Fire. I found it to be unique and interesting as the city grew out of the ground in my mind. All the pieces of the world fit together and made sense. The story was fast paced and action filled and I honestly can't think of one slow spot. There was enough twist to keep me interested. I felt like the book had a perfect balance of love and conflict.
The characters were great and easy to connect to and I loved the love triangle. That hardly happens, usually I find myself angry at one of the characters. Instead I could see why Dez was torn, I was torn. I thought I loved Jace, then Reese, the Jace, wait no show more no I love Reese. I also liked how her character would rather not be either boy then lose either. Dez was strong and loyal and I loved how her friends stand by her, it doesn't matter what she does. Which is how real friends are. show less

Destiny’s Fire is so UNIQUE! It was amazing! And complete thrill ride! It’s one my favorite steampunk stories, set in 2040, filled with shape-shifters descended from guardians to the Egyptian pharaohs. Wolfe’s love story bit added equal parts excitement and a lot sexy-times lol. Don’t worry about the love triangle thing. I love a good love story…just as long as it’s played out well. Destiny’s relationship with Reese and Jace is gradual and a genuine building. What I’ve learned throughout this whole love triangle thing is that you go for what you want.
Dez and all the other characters are very relatable and I loved their sparring scenes to dancing in the clubs. They just play off of each other very well. Wolfe’s show more characters told the story; it was like everything was molded around them, this story was made for them. Wolfe does an excellent job writing such likable characters.
The plot was very dynamic. I for one haven’t really read steampunk novel(except for Cassandra Clare’s.) Destiny’s Fire was everything I could hope for in a novel(potential series?) There’s romance, action, a Strong female lead. There are some serious moments thrown in there too. For the most part I just remember having that feeling like “I have to finish this book, it’s so good (can’t look away)”during this novel. I love being invested in the characters and being excited when reading the story. I never would have expected such great things with Destiny’s Fire! It’s a MUST READ! show less

If I love this book any more than I already do, I don't think it would be healthy! Destiny's Fire is one of those books you pick up not expecting much but end up loving unconditionally.
In Destiny's Fire, Trisha Wolfe creates one of the most unique, complex, and breathtaking stories you'll ever read about. At first the world may seem a little overwhelming, but you quickly get immersed in the thrilling world of the Kythan with their crazy-cool powers. There's also a fun steampunk element, too (with cool gadgets and corsets). I couldn't get enough!
Dez is my favourite kind of heroine: a strong, bad-ass fighter who cares deeply about those she loves, but not too strong that she's hard to connect with. She has the perfect amount of show more vulnerability; there isn't a single thing she does that I can't see happening in real life.
And the romance is PERFECT. ♥ Complicated and sensual with the perfect hint of dangerousness, it will turn people who don't like love triangles into people who do! Both Reese and Jace break my heart and make it melt at the same time. The chemistry is off the charts. And you'll fall in love with the amazing secondary cast too!
Original, action-packed, and absolutely unputdownable, Destiny's Fire is a brilliant novel that I can't recommend enough! I'm crossing my fingers that the author is planning to write a sequel so I can add that to my favourites shelf next to this one. :)
BUY or BORROW?: If I only had a little bit of money and had to choose between saving it or buying this book, I'd purchase Destiny's Fire in a heartbeat! An absolute MUST-have!! show less

I have always been fascinated with the Steampunk world. This book is everything I've ever wanted in a Steampunk story and so much more. I was engaged from the first chapter and had a really hard time putting it down, it was enthralling!
This book is an intense debut packed with lots of kick-butt action, HOT romance and awesome fantasy elements. Destiny’s Fire isn’t your average Steampunk book, it’s captivating and debut author, Trisha Wolfe takes on Steampunk with a riveting plot. I heart everything about this book. The plot development is original and was built on a solid foundation that never wavered.
The author has created a captivating and alluring world of the Kythan that was descended from guardians to the Egyptian pharaohs. show more Haven is the home of the Shythe but when the barriers are lowering and the enemy race, Narcos, are approaching Haven, Dez and her friends, Jace, Lana and Nick start training in secret. As the real reason to why the Narcos are entering Haven unfolds, secrets are uncovered…
I loved Dez’s voice immediately and her actions felt realistic too. Plus, she’s got a secret that she has to hide at all costs. She’s a great female lead who is witty and smart and can really kick-butt when necessary.
Fans of love triangles look no further. There is a love triangle, a very well written love triangle with two very charming and HOT love interests. And even if you aren’t much of a love triangle fan, you might just change your mind! Jace and Reese are definitely swoon-worthy guys but I have to admit, I’m a hundred percent Team Reese.
The secondary characters were exquisite. They were all very well rounded and well developed. Dez’s friend, Lana is different to Dez, she has got quite a bubbly and friendly personality that I liked instantly. Dez’s protective mother was very realistic and relatable too.
I love a story with twists and surprises and I was very surprised by the ending. I definitely did not see that part coming. Also, I have to mention that I love the gorgeous cover. It’s to die for. The colour violet ties in with the book perfectly.
Destiny’s Fire has become an instant favourite of mine. I’m definitely crossing my fingers (and toes!) for a sequel. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of Reese and Jace! In addition, I’m also a huge fan of debut author, Trisha Wolfe now; she’s definitely an author we should all keep an eye out for!
I give Destiny’s Fire five big stars. To say that this remarkable debut is great would be the biggest understatement of the year. Remember to keep an eye out for this engrossing book!

First of all, the cover, GORGEOUS! Secondly, when I read "shape-shifters descended from guardians to the Egyptian pharaohs", yeah, I basically flipped out of my chair. Hello! "GUARDIANS TO THE EGYPTIAN PHARAOHS! Okay, I need to calm down a little. Those we knows me very well will know that I think from all the ancient civilizations, I love the Egyptian the most. :) When you add steampunk epicness to it? HELLO! When read the synopsis, I knew this book was going to be unique and amazing. And this book did a better job in living up to expectations then most other books.
Okay now, let's start. First, the world building! Wow! My mind was blown! You know, I just admire authors so much for creating and putting what they imagine into words. And show more Trisha definitely did put her imagination into her work. I totally wanted to live in the world.
The plot was beautifully written. There were twists and turns that legit made my heart race like I was on a rollercoaster. The action, mystery, suspense seriously did a toll on my heart. Lordy!
Okay, have to say that I am kind of sick of strong female characters with weaknesses in YA. It is so hard to find someone like Toph or Azula in books. Dez was your typical YA strong female character with vulnerability. I didn't like her but I didn't hate her. I do have to comment on how well developed each character was. Dez, Reese, Jace, Lana and Nick. Okay, I always seemed to like secondary characters better so it wasn't a surprise when I liked Lana better than Dez .The Consil provoked I think almost every other emotions in me.
Okay, now I will dive into another thing I think YA seemed to not escape from: love triangles. Okay, some of you might know that I am not a fan of love triangles. And I love to say I wasn't that pleased when I read in the synopsis that there might be a love triangle. Jace was protective and sweet. Reese was mysterious and kind of badass. Both of course gorgeous. There was major drama between the three! A lot of my reaction was "DAMMMNNN!"
Okay, okay I don't think this will be under the category of spoilers so I am going to tell you. (Warning, Ashley is going to go into one of her Legend of Korra reference, buckle up. Oh and for those who haven't watched LoK, and don't want to be spoiled, well skipped all the korra pics.) So you know when Bolin walked in on Korra and Mako kissing, well, there was a scene in the book that definitely reminded me of that Korra scene. And even when Dez and _____ made up, it reminded me of Korra and Bolin making up.
Oh I forgot, more Korra references. So you know how Korra has this Steampunk theme to it as well? So I basically pictured all the cool BAMF gadgets and charged weapons to be something in Korra.
And also! Nacros uses their fire ability to power stuff. *moving eye brow up and down* Eh? Korra fans?
Know what I am talking about? No shame here! Okay, now that is the end of my long Korra reference.
I think the best thing about this book was how original and complex everything was. Yes, granted that strong female character, and love triangle is not original, but all the other things were very original. Also this book was jammed packed with action. Woot! Give me a high five Trish! The downfall of this book was the character Dez and the love triangle. I am sorry. Most books with a love triangle will have a disadvantage when it comes to my reviewing time. I just never liked them Sorry. But overall this book was worth reading.

Destiny's Fire was a mix of future, paranormal, and adventure, along with an extra spoonful of romance. I loved how all the themes were balanced, to appeal to a wide range of readers. The protagonist, Dez, was kick butt!, she had awesome powers, a great set of friends, and an unexpected love interest.
I went into the story thinking i had it all figured out from the first couple of chapters, that I knew how it's going to end, but I was pleasantly surprised with the ending. The author makes you think you finally know how its going to end in one chapter, and in the next one, poof, your theory is out the window. I love novels that keep me guessing, so this was a plus for me.
The only problem I had with the novel and the protagonist in show more general was her indecisiveness; yes she has awesome powers, but she's too scared to use them. Yes she likes this guy, but.. she doesn't want to hurt the other guy's feelings and ends up leading him on. It's like her decisions always make her end up in the worst possible scenario.
I wished I had gotten to know some other characters more, such as Jace and his siblings. Yes they're always with Dez but I just wished we had a chance to read about the backstory of their family. Other than that, I would say that the author has done a marvelous job at keeping me hooked and on the edge of my seat throughout the whole novel. I'm also very excited to find out that there will be a second book to conclude this amazing story! show less
