This is a re-read of the first book in a series I have on my "will never part with" shelves. Probably the first murder mystery I'd read that was more "chick-lit" than cozy, I love this book. It's witty, funny, well-written and has a great mystery plot. Plus, a great start to a killer romance. :)

Molly is a journalist for a women's lifestyle magazine, writing the advice column. Of course she aspires to become a much more serious journalist, writing deep, thought provoking articles about things that matter, but she's not shallow "*sigh* I just know I can do better!" about it - she's working hard and looking for opportunities to advance her career in much the same way anybody in the real world would. She has her two best friends there to show more keep her grounded and cheer her on at the same time and doing both in the most delightfully witty, snarky way possible.

This book and the other three in the series are as much about the power of best friends than it is about anything else. I love all three of these characters and if I had to live the life of anyone in any of my books, Molly's life would be in the top three, and it would be more for her friends than for the hot detective (although there wouldn't be a huge gap between them). Although I'd have to pass on the shoes; I like my feet too much to torture them daily in 3-4 inch stilettos.

There is a fair amount of fashion and designer name dropping in this series, which annoys some people; I could take it or leave it, so I usually skim over it when it gets to be too much.

The mystery was really well done; even after multiple re-reads I don't have any plot holes screaming out at me, making the murderer unexpected. The chemistry between Molly and Kyle as she continues to investigate is sizzling without ever being graphic; this book adheres to cozy mystery conventions even if it is much more chick-lit in tone and theme.

This is one of those series I was hugely disappointed to see end. If Ms. Anderson ever self published Molly, I'd be the first in line with my e-reader in hand. I miss her and her friends quite a bit.

Molly Forrester writes an advice column for Zeitgeist, a Manhattan magazine. She'd like to write for a more prestigious magazine and sees her chance when Teddy Reynolds, advertising director for Zeitgeist, is murdered and she literally stumbles over his body at the magazine offices. Molly wants to try and sell the story of Teddy's murder from her viewpoint and decides to try and solve the murder herself as an additional selling point for the article. She has another incentive to solve the murder - hunky police detective Kyle Edwards seems to think Teddy's wife, Helen, killed him and Molly is convinced that the real killer works at the magazine. Soon Molly realizes that many people have secrets, secrets they want to keep, even if it show more means killing again.

"Killer Heels" is an excellent first book in what looks to be a fun series. Molly is a great heroine, both spunky and resourceful. Her best friends, Cassady and Tricia, are also likable. I'm not a "Sex and the City" fan and was a bit wary about reading a book with constant references to designer clothes and shoes, but they didn't bother me at all, in fact they added to the fun tone of the book. There's plenty of humor as well as suspense in the book. The mystery is well plotted with some red herrings along the way to keep a reader guessing who the murderer is.

This is a nice humorous mystery and I can't wait to read the next book in the series.

Molly Forrerster is working for a NYC magazine as an advice columnist but she has higher journalistic asperations. When she and a friend literally stumble over the murdered body of a coworker, Molly hopes to solve the crime and write the article that will lauch her career.

When I first started this book, I was not really enjoying it. I put it aside to read something else. I am so glad I went back to it. This is a very funny and entertaining chick lit mystery. Molly and her friends are sort of Sex In the City New York women. I thought I was getting a peek into single life in NYC. The mystery is OK. I sort of knew who the killer was but was not sure why until sort of late in the book. Lots of fun.
Really cute start to a series. Took a while to get into the first one, but halfway through, I couldn't put it down and am looking forward to the 2nd book!
Molly Forrester rocks!!! Even though she enjoys writing her "Dear Abby" column, Molly wants something more. She gets it when she trips over the body of a co-worker & decides to help out in the investigation... even though the cute homicide detective suspects Molly could be the killer... Really good debut novel! Great characters and plot!!!
Another enjoyable mystery! Happy to have another author to keep tabs on.
