If you read this knowing it is a lighthearted mixture of mystery and humor, not to be taken seriously, you will get exactly what you expected. I like reading a lot of non-fiction and let's say 'heavier' reads and this is exactly the kind of book I turn to in between to clear the mind, enjoy a laugh and move on. Charles keeps you interested enough to want to keep turning the pages, but you're not going to be thinking of quotes from this book years from now. This was entertaining, moved quickly and wasn't too far fetched to be unbelievable.
Claire and her raunchy gramps are staying in an RV park in Arizona, along with a bunch of other raunchy seniors. Human bones, the effort to save the RV park owner's land from the mining company, search for buried treasure, and a smart mouthed adventurous main character sets up the ride.

And their is a love interest (with some sexy scenes). And cursing. And drinking and wishing for a cigarette, so if these things offend you, you may not enjoy the book.

I did - probably 3.5 stars worth. There is at least one more in this series - I may try another.
In this engaging mystery, Claire Morgan has accompanied her grandfather to the Dancing Winnebagos RV Park in southern Arizona to keep an eye on him and his elderly pals as they carouse for women. But when Claire discovers a leg bone in the desert, her natural curiosity leads her into a whodunit concerning a mine. She must also contend with Mac Garner, a sexy geotechnician exploring the area for his Aunt Ruby, owner of the RV park. ‘Dance of the Winnebagos’ is a fun-filled ride starring a cast of colorful characters. With laugh-out-loud dialogue and a smoldering romance between Claire and Mac, this was a story I couldn’t put down. This is the first book in The Jackrabbit Junction Mystery series and I certainly look forward to show more reading the rest! show less
I tried to really like this, but there was something off-putting to me about the crude nature of some of the characters. I'm far from a prude, but at times, the off-color conversations seemed more than a little gratuitous. Which is a shame because I thought it had a good plot and overall fun characters. Just a little less of the dirty old men stuff please. I got the point. I didn't need to be hammered over the head with it.

Okay, so several months ago I read a book, thinking it was a supernatural thriller - turns out it was a supernatural romance. I liked the book but stated in my review that I really wasn't into romances. Well, maybe I am. this was a murder mystery romance and I have to say I really enjoyed it. Okay, so the romance parts were a bit over the top (at least for me), but the characterizations were good, the dialogue was well done, and, despite the romance parts, it had an interesting plot with a delightful mix of witticism and sleuthing. It was a quick read, and though the antagonist was obvious fairly early, there were a couple of twists that offered it authenticity as a mystery. So, maybe I am a romance fan - at least when it is embedded in show more a witty, mystery adventure set in an RV park in the Southwest U.S. show less

Claire Morgan and her grandfather, Harley Ford, are visiting the Dancing Winnebagos RV Park in AZ where he and a couple of his army buddies have put out word online for single ladies to also visit. Claire is supposed to keep these guys in check. Ha! Lots of raunchy innuendo. Claire is a well educated (many college courses, no degree) late bloomer still trying to figure things out in her early thirties. Mac Garner, geotechnician, is using his vacation to help his aunt Ruby put a value on some old mines she needs to sell to pay debts accrued by her late husband or lose the RV park. But during his exploration he finds himself the target of someone trying to stop him. There are also side plots involving a dog-napping and the dog finding a show more human femur. Some good humor, lots of risque humor and an interesting mystery. Not sure if I'll pursue any future volumes. show less
Another colorful character from the world of Anne Charles! Having lived in Arizona I found this to be rich with memory invoking images. The mystery surrounding the minds and the RV Parks deceased husband lead Claire and a hot Geo-engineer on an adventure that boggles the mind and kept this girl turning pages as fast as I could!
