This was my second reading of this book. I liked it just as well the second time. In my opinion this is one of CC better books. The characterizations of both the hero and the heroine were well developed and in depth. You could really see where each of them was coming from.
The story starts in the present for just a quick glimpse then goes back and tells the whole 11 years story in order. It wasn't told in annoying flashbacks but straight forward hitting the high points mostly from her POV but enough from his to show them on parallel paths that would someday intersect. CC did a very good job with this especially showing how his brief brush with her at the start of the 11 year story would shape the next decade for him even though he show more didn't really know her or meet her.
Lindsay was a strong character even if she had issues. Taylor was a very decent understanding man. The suspense was well done but it didn't overwhelm the relationship between the hero and heroine which is where the book focused. The secondary characters were good. A couple were kind of one note but the sister and the Grandmother were multidimensional and different.
A very satisfying read. show less

Quirky and independent, but haunted by a horrifying episode in her past, the model known as Eden isn't thrilled to be assigned a bodyguard. Especially not one as masculine and viral as ex-cop S. C. Taylor. For his part, Taylor's not that struck by his new assignment. Not that is, until her gets to know Eden a bit better.
Told in a series of vignettes and flashbacks, the suspense builds as it becomes clear that someone is trying to maim or kill Eden. But who? Suspects range from her seriously dysfunctional family to the mob bosses her manager owes gambling debts to. Or could the villain be someone else entirely?
This is vintage Coulter, a bit rough and violent at times, but surprisingly not that dated. And given the recent popularity of show more top model reality shows, I'd say it has a fairly wide appeal. show less

How do you move on with your life after a tragic event? How do you recover when your family doesn't support you? Emotionally riveting and deeply intense. This is my first Catherine Coulter book and I was very impressed. With each page, I began to truly appreciate just how much it means to have a family who loves you and supports you.
