Very sweet and touching love story between two people that have been at odds with each other since childhood. I think this is one of my favorite types of romances. When you take two people that that have been pulling pranks and giving the other a lot of grief for many years and find out that underneath it all there was a spark and very deep emotional connection.
Many people are judged based on past behaviors or preconceived notions. Kyle and Celia are both victims of this. Not just from there friends and family but also with each other. Celia finds out that Kyle is really romantic softy at heart and Kyle finally admits what he has known for two years, that Celia is everything he wants in a woman and a wife.
Something Lorelei I think is show more very good at is writing about family drama and how childhood can effect the adults today. Kyle never knew who his father was and then all of a sudden he not only finds out who he was but that he left him a ranch. Something Kyle had been wanting and dreaming about having for years. It was a very touching scene when Kyle's mother finally admitted how he came to be. Being a single mother is not easy and having to admit to your child that they were not conceived in a loving relationship is not an easy thing. Kyle had a lot of emotions to work out on that but he knew his mother did the best she could for him.
Celia having lost both her parents when she was young was raised by her brothers. In situations like that the older brothers can tend to be a little over protective not realizing that for most of the time she felt like she didn't really belong anywhere and had no place of her own to call home. She too had always wanted a ranch to call her own but struggled with letting herself fully believe that what her and Kyle had was real. Instead she kept thinking it was all just short term and waiting for the other shoe to drop.
This book is about the romance between two people and the insecurities they need to overcome to have that HEA. show less

There’s definitely a difference between erotica written in the last century and erotica written today. Today’s includes plot lines and character development whereas old erotica centered on titillating scene after scene. Lorelei James represents the best in today’s erotica, and she’s just gotten stronger with every book she writes.
One Night Rodeo brings together two people readers have seen in previous books: Rodeo bull rider champ Kyle Gilchrist and barrel racer Celia Lawson. Both are strong characters who have been doing the bicker dance around each other for years.
The attraction is so strong that one drunk night in Las Vegas, they tie the knot. At this point, all my misgivings reared their heads — drunk, attraction, show more spur-of-the-moment marriage, great sex. Nothing said happily ever after. Not one bit.
On top of that, Kyle’s just learned about the father he never knew existed. Recently injured Celia for her part is trying to break free of her over-protective brothers’ wings. Neither is in top form to give such a rocky start his or her full attention.
If this were an old-style erotica, one sexual encounter after another would unfold and the marriage would be all but forgotten. James, however, gives not only her signature hot, hot encounters, but also a story worthy of a non-erotica contemporary.

This Blacktop Cowboys series is fantastic. No book yet had been a dud for me. One night rodeo is so believeable I expect to meet these two on a street somewhere. Kyle our hero has actually appeared in previous books described as the hot viking. He has had sex with previous characters also. Just like real life. This book handles it all so well it is a pleasure to read oh and BTW Kyle is even more willing to do it anywhere, anytime, any how. Don't want to give you the wrong impression, this is not porn this book is well written bouncing on sheets only when appropiate to the story.
Celia is the little sister, to previous hero's and the hands off policy for little sisters is suddenly ignored for good reason.
It all started one very drunken show more night in a marriage chapel in Los Vegas. It all ends in Los Vegas. A huge windfall, a big inheritance, the learning curve of a cattle ranch, and a couple of deaths all happen in between.
Oh yes I will continue to follow this series eagerly. I would reccommend it to anyone who enjoys hot contemporary cowboys and a touch of reality. show less

This book is hot! The only thing that was a bit cheesy was the description of the girls clothes but who am I to judge since its not my style. Hot sexy scenes and I love that this author does a chapter from the males view then one from the females view-- very clever!
While some of the story I could see coming, I really liked how these two worked together and played together. In the audio version, the relationship after a drunk Vegas wedding. Nice relationship ups and downs and hot sex
