I read this book a child, and it has remained floating around in my head to haunt me ever since. Since I haven't actually reread it, I can't say much as to its literary value, but the fact that I remember it in such detail after all these years says something. It is the story of three children from different times who all discover the ability to visit each others' times through a sundial standing on the property of a very old home. If I ever name a daughter Araminta, it will be entirely the fault of this book. Who am I kidding? I will never name my daughter Araminta. But that's not to say I wouldn't like to. This was one of the fundamental works of my childhood.
Random selection of a children's book, after recognising the cover from an old 80s television series. Could have saved myself the effort and checked that I was thinking of the same show on YouTube, but hey - only took a couple of hours to read! Quite an eerie concept, sort of The Turn of the Screw via time travel, and very well told. Could have found a better name than Minty Cane for the heroine of the tale, however!
Minty is a girl who has something special, and therefore she was involved in a very strange happening. The sundial gave her some chances to trip to the past world, and there she met two children, Tom and Salah. They two ( especially Salah ) were so poor children that Minty made up her mind to help them. In this way, her adventure began.
I was very attracted to the setting that sundial is a door to the another world. When I was a child, I often imagined the mysterious world hidden in the mirror or the cupboard. This story reminded me of such an old memory. So, after reading this, I came to look back when I felt something "cool" in my cheeks.

Ms Raven/Vole broke the mirror when they pointed it at her, I think this was supposed to symbolise she was the devil or the evil being they thought Sarah was.
Loved this book, and loved the TV series, in fact I think my friend has it and I am going to have to watch it again...
This book is fantasy and horror.Minty take a journey through time into the past.I like the expression in this story because I can have a real sense of horror. This mysterious story is very interesting, but it is difficult for me to understand the story because the time in this story changes often.
This story is a little difficult, but it is interesting and mysterious.
Minty has sixth sense and can go to the past. while I read this book, I imagined what to do if I have sixth sense.
I am interested in the continuance of this story. I want to know how she use sixth sense in the future.
This is a story of a girl who has a special ability to time travel to 100 years ago. It is a fanciful and a little scary story.
I like this story because the heroine is courageous and active so I'm favorably disposed toward her. Moreover, it come to a happy end.
