It was a great honor to review this 150 page book that examines carefully and creatively those areas of spirituality that can be hard to grasp and just plan keep us chasing our tails for awhile. I was especially taken with the way the author was at times slow and methodical and at others just seemed to hone right in on the questions I had asked myself many times over and over again, it was like he could get right inside me and helped me to not be so hard on myself and really get a sense of what each lesson was about.
This is another clear case of someone rising above their sorrows and through their own trials shining the light for the show more rest of us. Being in recovery myself I could relate to this God-given helper and the many conflicts I have dealt with on my sometimes bumpy road. I would recommend this much needed treasure to anyone at any phase of their journey and especially to those balancing the paradox of the spiritual path. Thanks Tom for sharing your answers with the rest of us, and Thanks Timo for bringing them our way.

Mitä sitten on vaarallinen elämä? Se merkitsee syntymistä siksi mikä syvimmiltään on. (...) Tämä ei kenties kuullosta kovinkaan dramaattiselta eikä vaaralliselta. Tosiasiassa se kuitenkin on sitä mitä suuremmissa määrin. Kun ihminen alkaa lähestyä omaa sisintään, hän ei voi tehdä sitä luopumsta omista turvarakennelmistaan. Jos hän on rakentanut turvansa alkoholin varaan, hänen on luovuttava tästä turvasta. Jos hän on sen tehnyt takertumalla ja oppineisuuteen, hänen on tultava tietämättömäksi ja avuttomaksi. Hänen on kohdattava, se ettei tieto enää auta häntä tällä tiellä. (...) Jos hän on takertunut esimerkiksi puolisoonsa ja delegoinut tälle vastuun omasta elämästään, hänen on kenties jopa luovuttava tästä puolisosta ja seistävä omilla jaloillaan. Jos hän on takertunut mustavalkoiseen ja jyrkkään uskonnollisuuteen, hänen on uskallettava astua siitä ulos. (...) Jos hän on ollut perfektionisti, hänen on kohdattava epätäydellisyytensä. Mikäli hän on ollut kroonisesti kiltti, hänen on alettava ilmaista vihaansa.
Muutos on todella vaarallista. Vasta pakon edessä ihminen alkaa asettaa kyseenalaiseksi sen mistä hän on saanut turvansa [esim. vanhemmat ja lapsuus]. Meidän täytyy alkaa tukehtua omiin turvarakennelmiimme enne kuin kaipaamme happea niin paljon, että suostumme romuttamaan sen, minkä varaan olemme elämämme rakentaneet. Sittenkään emme välttämättä siihen ryhdy. Monet valitsevat tuhoutumisen ja kuoleman mielummin kuin muutoksen ja itsensä kohtaamisen.
On kuitenkin olemassa niitä, jotka suostuvat tähän mahdottomalta tuntuvaan tehtävään. Heillä kaikilla on yksi yhteinen ominaisuus, (...) rohkeus. Usein ajatellaan, että rohkeus on sitä, ettei pelkää. Näin ei kuitenkaan ole, vaan rohkeus on sitä, että toimii vaikka pelottaa.
