744. Newman: The Pillar of the Cloud, by Meriol Trevor (read 24 Jul 1963) (James Tait Black Memorial biography prize for 1962) I found this an excellent book, but it is memorable to me because I happened to finish it the day my mother died.

Meriol Trevor (1919-2000) was educated at St. Hugh's College, Oxford. One of the most prolific Catholic writers of the twentieth century, she wrote more than thirty novels, for adults and children, and several major biographies. She is best known for her comprehensive biography of Cardinal John Henry Newman published in the early sixties.
