I think this is a great book for children who are newly introduced to poetry. Every other line has a rhyming word. Once a student knows a little about words that rhyme, after they read the first line, any try to predict the line that is going to rhyme.
The writing/language in the book is very easy to follow and on a very basic level. This is beneficial from children who are new to poetry and rhyming words.
This is also a guess and check kind of book. Children look at the clothes that are on the clothes line, read the poem, and try to identify what job is being talking about. Most of the jobs are ones that can be seen around any community, so hopefully they all have background knowledge about the jobs. This can also lead to a discussion show more about the jobs people do in the community.
The illustrations are very bright and colorful. If the reader pays close attention, the mail man shows up on every page. This can help students relate that people the community are always around and help each other. show less

This book is a bunch of clotheslines that make the reader guess what job the person does. This is a great read-aloud book that can make the students interact. I love how in the end, all the workers get together to say goodbye to the astronaut. This can introduce young readers to think about what they want to be in the future.
Who wears what to work? The clues in each lively verse can be spotted hanging from the clotheslines. A mail carrier’s uniform, the artist’s brushes, and the chef’s apron all hang from the clothesline. Then turn the page to learn which professionals wear and use the special gear in the jobs they do. Clever illustrations show the workers helping one another, and in the end, everyone joins together for a celebration that is out of this world.
Kids can guess what job will be done by the uniform hanging on the clothesline. This book is clever and inclusive.
Guessing people's occupations by what they wear. I especially like the inclusion of women in jobs like astronaut, carpenter, and firefighter.
Poetic book that asks the questions as they have the hints of clothes on the clothesline. Then you will have the opportunity to see if the children will be able to guess.
