Rated 3 stars. Own on Kindle. Also listened on Hoopla Audio. Enjoyed the narration by Matthew Lloyd Davies. #2 Lord and Lady Hetheridge contemporary mystery set in London. Entertaining although a warning that this title is not cozy like #1. What I especially enjoy in this series are the personalities and relationships of the 3 main character's. Charming older Lord Anthony "Tony" Hetheridge, young brash Kate Wakefield and Deepal "Paul" Bhar.
Two gruesome murders occur at a costume party held at the "posh" home of a university student. Many possible suspects and and I didn't guess the killer until the big reveal at the end.
Especially enjoyed learning more of the personal lives of Tony, Paul and Kate. My favorite character in this episode show more was Paul's Mother who supports herself writing racy romance novels under an assumed name much to Paul's dismay! Makes for some humorous dialogue. Looking forward to continuing the series. show less

This is a great twofer! The intricate procedural concerning the bizarre murders of two college students at a drugs/alcohol party in a posh neighborhood (including some dodgy history of DS Bhar) is very well done. The romancing of thirty something DS Kate (and her semi functional family) by just-turned-sixty Chief Superintendent (Baron) Hetheridge is another good one. And it's all tied together by a great sense of humour that had me guffawing at many intervals!
I really appreciate the talents of voice actor Matthew Lloyd Davies to help me with easy show more differentiation of characters in the audio, and he always underplays the scenes! show less

BLUE MURDER by Emma Jameson is the 2nd Lord and Lady Hetheridge Mystery Series title.
A very ‘disturbing’ Halloween party in Chelsea is interrupted by a double axe murder.
The characters/suspects are all extremely unlikeable - rich, spoiled, entitled, narcissistic 20 somethings. And then there is the suspicious next-door neighbor high on the police radar and a source of deep embarrassment for DS Depal Bhar.
I do like our main detective characters - they are smart, interesting and hard-working. I find the romance between DS Kate Wakefield and Lord (DI) Hetheridge cute, but extraordinarily unrealistic. DS Depal (Paul) Bhar is a bundle of insecurities and his mother (who he lives with) is a hoot, or a terror- take your pick!
This is not a show more thriller, or a particularly accurate police procedural; the ending is a bit rushed, but I am getting fond of the characters and series in general. **** show less

Blue Murder is the second book in author Emma Jameson's Lord and Lady Hetheridge Mystery Series. It was interesting to learn that to "scream blue murder" is a British slang term for complaining in an angry way. All of the books in the series have the word "blue" in the title and there are seven book in the series to date.
In Blue Murder two men were found dead at a Halloween party hosted by Emmeline Wardle, the teen daughter of a frozen food baron. Handsome Trevor Parsons was found with an axe in his head and computer nerd Clive French was also found dead in the garden of the home. Clive also had an axe in his head. Clive was not invited to the party but showed up anyway. Since all of the party goers, thirty nine, were children of the show more wealthy New Scotland Yard asked Chief Superintendent Anthony Hetheridge, ninth baron of Wellegrave, to investigate. His girlfriend, Detective Sergeant Kate Wakefield was also involved in the investigation as was her partner, Detective Sergeant Deepal "Paul" Bhar.
I really enjoyed this novel. In fact, it was even better than Ice Blue. The dialogue between the police officers showed the closeness of their relationships with each other. The three of them work well together. I am not usually a fan of a police procedural but this cozy mystery hit the spot. The British flavor of the setting helped, even though many of the colloquiallisms were very American. They still came off as British. show less

This is the second book in the Lord and Lady Hetheridge mystery series by Emma Jameson. It's part police procedural and part romance. The main characters are sixty year old Anthony Hetheridge, 9th Baron Wellgrave, and Chief Superintendent at New Scotland, and his investigators, Kate Wakefield and Detective Deepal (Paul) Bhar, who still lives with his mother, a successful author of romance books.
They are called out to a Halloween party where two of the guests have been killed with an ax. Sir Duncan Godington, the accused but unconvicted suspect of another murder lives next door and the team is hoping they have him this time. They know he's gotten away with murder before, but did he have anything to do with this particular murder.
Tony is show more still trying to convince Kate to marry him but she's reluctant because she brings a huge amount of baggage with her, including her mentally handicapped brother and a young nephew she's responsible for. Paul is hilarious on every level. This is a quick, entertaining read that I enjoyed even though I wouldn't call it great literature. show less

The lovely Ms. Jameson provided me with this copy for free, no strings attached.
This book focuses more on Kate’s and Paul’s backgrounds and what makes them tick. Of course the romance between Kate and Tony deepens as well. Paul’s mother is a delightful addition to the series that makes me smile every time. This time we get more time with the villain that was also present in the first book and learn how truly nasty he is as well. The character development is well done and interesting.
Once again the mystery is well plotted and paced. There clues are peppered throughout the book, some of which will definitely lead you in the wrong direction.
Another fun read that makes me ready to look for more!

An interesting detection team with much personal baggage. The story drags a little as all their issues are sorted out. Still an interesting series to continue.
