Description

"I'm finally home after struggling through my brother's illness and death. But home is definitely a bit different. My best friend has a new boyfriend; and he has a friend. Shane Maxton: bad boy, tattooed rock god, eye candy extraordinaire. He is also New York City's most arrogant, self-serving, son of a, well, a definite one-night stand kind of a guy. it doesn't matter to me because I've spent my existence looking for the love of my life, my angel. And, there is nothing that Shane Maxton can show more do to change that."--Back cover. show less

"I saw him behind my closed eyelids, pale blue angels eyes. My angel; my soul mate."

I think this one threw me for a loop because, for some reason, I didn't get that there were going to be some angels in it. But that didn't detract from the story - and for the most part, it wasn't a part of the story until near the end. I just hadn't expected it (totally my fault, I know, but still...it adjusted my reading experience).

But, I'm also a character driven reader. I love getting to know the people in the story, knowing them so well I think I understand them and understand their motives and why they react a certain way.

And I just didn't get that with Grace. I did with Shane and even Lea. But Grace had me boggled. She would give Tucker a chance show more (just, really? He broke the button on her pants!?) and she gave...other boys a chance (don't want to spoil the story for you!)

But Shane, the boy she is MOST drawn to, she is rude and mean. Even Tucker somehow got more respect than Shane, even when Shane was so much nicer. I just didn't quite understand her. I think if the book had been longer, I might have more information and possibly understood. And for being a running goddess, she only does it in the beginning (like all the time) and then totally abandons it? She just seemed inconsistent.

But all in all, the story held my attention and Shane and Grace were interesting enough to keep me reading and I did like the story.

Wow! Okay let me first start by saying “Wow!” This book took me completely by surprise. I downloaded it after seeing it on Goodreads and reading the blurb. It sounded interesting and the truth of the matter is I was in a slump and really needed something different; but god was I scared because all I kept thinking was please don’t suck. I have had bad luck with books lately that I have purchased without reading the sample first. So not the case here, this one was worth a lot more than the $1.50 I spent at Amazon to purchase it.

Many have compared it to [b:Beautiful Disaster|11505797|Beautiful Disaster (Beautiful, #1)|Jamie McGuire|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1327212014s/11505797.jpg|16441531] which I can definitely see. There show more are some similarities for sure although this one has the paranormal element as well. I also found a few similarities to [b:Fallen|6487308|Fallen (Fallen, #1)|Lauren Kate|http://photo.goodreads.com/books/1268869615s/6487308.jpg|6678670] by [a:Lauren Kate|2905297|Lauren Kate|http://photo.goodreads.com/authors/1296679724p2/2905297.jpg]. Since I loved both of those I fell in love with this one as well. As soon as I finished it I had to go and download the second book so that I could immediately find out how it all ends (Fall from Grace ends with a cliffhanger so make sure you are armed with the second book, Saving Grace.) show less
Ugh, I think I got brain damage from reading this one to the end.

Sorry my friends, I know you loved it and like usual it makes me feel bad to bash it BUT I was so disgusted by this one.

For me, everything about this book screamed dramatic, fake and immature - I still don't know how I sat through it. And if that wasn't enough kept thinking: "Wow, that's the light version of the Fallen series with only minor changes."

I had high hopes but was disappointed very early on and nothing could save this book for me - especially not Grace. I couldn't connect to her at all, like the book itself, she seemed immature, bratty and annoying.

Shane saved this book two stars - what can I say? I'm a sucker for singing, tattoo'd guys.

Onto a serious pet show more peeve of mine: Please, I'm begging you get this book edited and spell checked. I make mistakes as well but god, I don't publish books and have others spend money on stories littered with grammar and spelling mistakes.

Not even the major cliffhanger could make me even touch the second book.

The idea of a banished angel (well sort of) sentenced to roam eternity hoping to be reunited with her one true love is intriguing. Her long existence has been filled with lifetimes of loss and painful disappointment all while desperately hoping that she will find him again, The One. Then she meets Shane, who is not even close to being her true love but why does it feel so right to be near him? Should she give up hope of ever finding The One, and take a chance with Shane?

"Please Grace, whatever it is that you're going after, please try to find it here in me." Shane.....swooon!!

On to the sequel...
Holy Moly I am still reeling over this book. You don't really know it's a paranormal romance until mid book. No Hot sex scenes but things are so intense between Grace and Shane you get knots in your stomach! The author really is amazing the way she makes you feel like you are right there with them especially in the bar when they are playing on stage you can't help but feel the fire that burns between Grace and Shane. I will tell you that you will want book 2 handy because the ending well it's a hanger!
Pretty sure I will be up all night reading Saving Grace.

Favorite quote:

"he really was ridiculously beautiful"

"Don't even try, because you might find me smacking the slut out of you in a minute!"

"She is mortal danger to all men. She is show more beautiful with knowing it, and possesses charms that she's not even aware of."

Rating is more like a 2.5. The first half was better than I expected. The second half just jumped off the deep end. There was practically no mention until half way through about the paranormal aspects. There were a few funny jokes and a few offensive crass comments. Grace was odd. Mostly she felt kind of juvenile for a soul that's supposed to have lived hundreds of lives. Shane - well I get his the bad playboy but even when he tried to change Grace ignored it so seemed kind of annoying - they had a lot of stupid interactions. I kind of just wanted to bash their heads together and be done with it. Unless I missed something, Shane had the same ice blue eyes she was looking for so I didn't really understand why she never considered it show more might be him - especially since she basically took Blake at first sight for nothing more than the eyes - I mean he was mauling her in front of everyone - why would she think he'd be the innocent reserved soulmate of hers? Anyway I enjoyed parts of it I guess. Kind of annoyed about the cliffhanger because I want to know what happens but I don't think I can bring myself to buy and read the sequel. We'll see. show less
This was an interesting book, I liked all the characters a whole lot. I thought the banter was good, I thought the plot was good.

Really I liked the book a great deal, there were some issues for me though. Most of them really solidified in book 2. I got sick of how judgmental and condemning she was regarding Shane. I got really sick of her calling him "that kind of guy". I understand he was one, but still her refusing to believe a single word he said just bugged me. Also the grammatical errors were pretty horrific. It's very jarring reading along and finding these stumbling blocks of misplaced, and misused, words and phrases. Incorrect pronouns were used all over the place. I saw more than one him instead of he.

But still, over all I show more really liked the book, and for once I really liked the best friend!!! The best friend actually was a good friend! She wasn't some fucking bimbo putting her bff in dangerous situations or pushing her friend into things that were harmful or just fucking stupid. This is actually the best best-friend character I've read in a while!

Yep, I liked the book!
