Having enjoyed his first novel I was excited to find this at the library, actually on the shelf, so it cost me nothing to read. Just as well.

To those contemplating reading Slaughter Falls, I recommend you do so immediately after reading Cut and Run, his first book. If you don't, there will be large chunks of unintended mystery in the second book, as it's referenced throughout. For me, it had only been six months between books and I was struggling to pick up the references to Cut and Run.

This was a disappointing sequel, partly due to the lack of recap, but mainly due to the sloppy grammatical and typographical errors.

The story itself had good bones. The pace was great. There was passion. And mystery. But the sloppy editing let it down show more for me. show less
