Epigraph
Dedication
To my wife Bonnie…
for giving me her valuable input,
support and encouragement to write …

and to my editor Arlene Uslander
for her expert help, input and patience.
First words
Nickolas J. Pappas, known by his associates as Niko, successfully appealed his pornography conviction. The authorities had yet to connect him with the murder of a fellow competitor. In a matter of hours, he would be released from prison on five-hundred thousand dollars bail. Niko, confined to a wheelchair, waited for his driver and bodyguard, Deon Gates, to transport him from the Atlanta Penitentiary to freedom.
Two years earlier, he was run off a cliff by a white Chevy Van while riding his Harley. Ironic in a way. In 1972, Niko’s recording studio produced “Chevy Van”, a song written and sung by Sammy John, a popular ‘70s rock n’ roll singer. While waiting for Deon, Niko relived that day, the attempt on his life. He would soon be free to seek his revenge.
