Z liked this, but not as much as he has liked the Moomin chapter books. The sometimes clunky rhymes bugged him, which at least gave us the chance to talk about English translations and how that may have affected the original sound of the book.
Absolutely beautiful. Follows the travails of a lonely orphan seeking acceptance and love. Bright, gorgeous illustrations full of unusual scenes and characters illuminate his journey.
The one star is from the childhood me - I didn't fancy this book at all as a kid. I think it scared me, and I also think that I didn't like the style of the writing or the drawings and I have a hunch I won't like it now either. Have no intention really to reread in now, and I think my childhood opinion is suitable enough for a children's book.
Tove Jansson är min favoritförfattare och "Vem ska trösta Knyttet?" är en av böckerna som jag älskar.
Skal leses om og om igjen!

Tove Jansson has received the Hans Christian Andersen prize for children's literature. The world of the Moomintroll has become internationally famous thanks to her brilliant sense of humor and fabulous illustrations. The delightful Moomintrolls make it through catastrophe after catastrophe through cooperation and plain luck. Although Jansson is show more best known for her children's books, her adult fiction is equally entertaining. (Bowker Author Biography) show less
