Does your faith hold up in the face of reason? Do you care if it does? What would you do to someone who threatened it? What would you do to preserve it?

When a faith-shattering discovery is made, many people are called upon to answer these questions. The discoverer, the keeper of the faith, the enemy of the faith. You'll be surprised by the answers and you'll end up with answers--or maybe more questions--of your own. ( )

Another Hugo nominated novella that I needed to read to finish voting. This one started out looking quite bad for the protagonist in what seemed to be a retelling of Galileo and the Catholic Church. Not quite the same outcomes but a nice twist to the story. ( )

I finished it, but I found it hard going for personal reasons, and did not like it. Which is a shame, because I like Jay, and I've liked other work of his.
