Paul Halter has garnered a reputation in France for creating well-crafted mysteries of the locked room and "impossible" crime variety and that reputation is well-deserved. The author of over 30 mysteries in France, these books are finally starting to appear here in english translations. The Demon of Dartmoor is a quick read that nevertheless manages to create suspense and head-scratching mystery when three young women and then a famous actor are all seen to be pushed to their death by an invisible force. Author Paul Halter has created the renowned criminologist, Dr Twist and the crusty Scotland Yard Inspector Hurst to solve the case. It's hoped they appear in many more of these delicious little jewels.
