This book combines storytelling with valuable lessons about diversity, empathy, and language. It is a great addition to any children's library, particularly for those who enjoy exploring different cultures and learning new languages.
This book includes several art pieces done of cut paper by the author and artist. She describes what each picture represents and how it is a reflection of her family history and culture.
I enjoyed this book because of the artwork. Grade school teachers can use this book and “Making Magic Windows” also by Carmen Garza for art projects. This book could also be used in the Social Studies classroom to teach students about the different cultures and different foods.
