Description

Fashion is what you make it, not what you can buy off the rack. Sew Subversive is about making fashion your way, whether it's embellishing or customizing shirts or skirts you bought at the store to make them uniquely your own, or transforming clothes that have lost that lovin' feeling into something completely different and absolutely you-t-shirts into skirts, sweaters into hats and leg warmers, pants into hipbelts. For some projects, all you'll need is an iron or a pair of scissors. But it show more won't take long before you'll be wielding a needle and thread like a pro and looking at sewing machines with longing and envy. Don't settle for what everyone else has-subvert fashion and sew subversively. show less

Sewing is making its way back into the crafting mainstream with books coming out every month that appeal to the younger indie and PDX crowd. This is the book if you just got a hand-me-down sewing machine, or want something more personal than the manual that came with their Singer. While there is no sub for having a hands on guru to show you, this book deserves an honorable mention for being fresh yet informative!
Fun to flip through. It's a bit too simplistic for experienced sewers but doesn't have enough instruction for an actual beginner.
great info on basic sewing techniques, supplies & machines
