Standoff at Mustang Ridge

This was a head spinning game of who done it. And I mean that in a good way. You were kept guessing until the very end.

Deputy Sheriff Royce McCall catches someone who broke into his family's cabin. It turns out to be Sophie Conway, a childhood acquaintance (not friends as they had never really liked each other)and she's in her nightgown pointing a gun at him yelling dont kill me. A month before the two of them had been at a party together and gotten really drunk and ended up in a motel room. Neither of them remembers what really happened once they got to the room. But Sophie uses this as a way to get out of marrying a man she doesnt want to marry when she finds out he has been doing shady deals. But those shady deals also include her show more father and possibly her half brother too.

From here Royce and Sophie are constantly on the run from people trying to shoot them. No one is above suspicion. Is it her her ex-fiance, her father, her half brother, or are there more involved. You are page turning as fast as you can through all the action to get to the end to figure out what is going on.

I really enjoyed this fast paced book and it would have been pretty much a 5 star book if it would have had an epilogue. show less
