I was intrigued to know that there was an Amish community in Florida, most of them being snowbirds. This book was delightful in spite of the troubles of the Heim family in Berlin, Ohio and Floridian Amanda's struggle to move on from widowhood. I'm looking forward to the next and last book in the trilogy.
I found Ray of Light to be a delightful and heartwarming read and look into a different group of people. Still Amish, but of the New Order Amish instead of the more written about Old Order Amish group. Not only does this group allow telephones in the house, they also do more missionary work in other countries. Although this is the second book in the series, for the most part it is a stand alone novel. Reading Daybreak (first book in the series) might have given more insight into the romance of Viola and Ed but since they are secondary characters in this story of Roman and Amanda, it was not a necessity to know. I loved how Shelley brought Amanda from widowhood and single mother of a precocious four year old daughter Regina to seeing a show more ray of light on the horizon beyond. Shelley as well as Regina and Roman grew in their maturity in Christ through the book, which was moving.
As always, Shelley does a great job of bringing her readers into the lives of her characters, and with her fantastic ability with words has the world around them come to life.

Ray of Light by Shelley Shepard Gray was a sweet book. It took me a few chapters to get into this book but once I did I loved it. At times I was lost because I hadn't read the book prior to this one so some parts were confusing for me but the author does a great job of making me understand where the characters are coming from and also making the reader feel like they are there with the characters. I wanted only the best for the characters and I was glad when in the end everything worked out just how I hoped it would. I can't wait to check out more of the books in this series.
We are on a return visit with the Keim family. Viola is planning her wedding and has a trip planned to Belize to get to know where she will be living with Edward. There are also some secrets that have been hidden for years that are about to come out.
This story is focused a lot on Roman Keim. It begins with him in Pinecraft FL, and him having a well deserved, first time vacation. What a wonderful time for him, seeing the Ocean, and then seeing a beautiful Amish Woman and her delightful Daughter.
Amanda Yoder has been a widow for two years, and is still lost. She had promised her husband that she would start of live again, but she hasn't been able to take that step. Now Roman has entered her world. He takes a big shine to her two year old show more daughter Regina. You will love the sweet antics between Roman and Regina. Has Amanda found another man to love? Will things be able to work out for them...with her living in FL and he in Ohio?
There are some very serious decisions to be made, both in their private lives, and in their religious life.
Don't miss this continuing story, and if you haven't read the first book...do so you are in for a real treat.

The second book in Shelley Shepard Gray's Days of Redemption series continues the story of the Keim family that began in Daybreak. If you read book one you'll know many family secrets were revealed, there are even more in this book. This is a story about moving on though you won't forget. A delight to read, a light romance, and a very different lifestyle not adhered to by most Amish communities.
Shelley's books are fun, tender hearted, tales of love, forgiveness, and overcoming. You won't be disappointed!
