Informational texts, like this one, are very important. The reader gets to learn facts that will broaden their knowledge. In this case, this book describes the life of turtles. I enjoyed reading this book because it was short and to the point. The book talks about different types of turtles, turtles who live in the water or on land, green turtles, and snapping turtles. I like how if the text talked about the shell, the pictures would be of the shell and also would either have a zoomed in picture or a special fact about it. “Did you know? The turtle shell has a top part and a bottom part.” These did you know parts of the book helps readers get a better idea about the turtle rather than them knowing turtles just have shells. The show more illustrations of this book were also very nice. These illustrations are real life photos of turtles, which is helpful for readers so that they can see what a turtle actually looks like. This helps connect the text to the pictures in a way that is easy for the reader to see. For an example, when the story was talking about eggs hatching, the picture was of a real turtle coming out of the egg. This shows the reader how the turtle looks newborn and shows that the egg looks like after it cracks. I believe the big idea of this book was to inform readers about turtles using important facts. This shows how different turtles are from other animals or reptiles. show less
