This is an updated version of the Guide to Community Solar, published in 11/10. This guide deals with utility projects, special purpose entity projects, and nonprofit projects. It begins with 3 examples of sponsorship models, discussing the legal and financial implications of each model. This is followed by a discussion of state policies that encourage community shared solar, then reviews some of the tax/financing issues that impact community shared solar projects. It also provides an outline of the legal hurdles that every project organizer should consider.
