Benjamin in 19 years old when he arrives in America from South Africa to be sold into slavery. But Benjamin is bought by a Christian slave owner who pays a large price for him and then sets him free. Benjamin will later have to pay a high price for his fiancee, Dorena, to set her free and both were 'ransomed for love'.
This story will anger you and move you to tears when you recognize what some slave owners did and what some slaves had to endure. But I hope there were some, like the book portrayed, who truly cared for and loved their slaves. It is a book about being ransomed from the slave market of sin also and the hope that folks have when they have Jesus.
