Magnifico!! I loved this book. Not only was there tons of angst, the author threw in shocking surprises and twists to the story.

Blake and Layla are carrying so much baggage from their past and they get a few more added to their shoulders before this book is done. When they meet Blake is still in his women are for sex only mindset, he only cares about one thing, his career as a fighter. When he comes across this mouse of a woman at the gym who was just hired as the assistant of the boss he doesn’t understand his fascination with her and fights it.

Layla and her daughter just moved to Las Vegas to get away from a bad situation. After years of abuse the last thing she is looking for is a man. But she to find herself attracted to this show more bad boy she knows is all wrong for her.

With all the twist and surprises through this story, I feel to give too much away would spoil it for the reader. But from the opening line to the last the author takes you on an emotional rollercoaster of heartbreak, betrayal and a beautiful love story of two people who no longer believe in happily ever after.

I loved Jonah and Raven’s book but this one hit much deeper with its subject matter that’s unfortunately all too real. Bravo to the author for a writing a great book..

I received a free copy of this novel in exchange for my honest review. This is book two in the Fighting series. Blake Daniels comes from a troubling past with a controlling father. He uses women as his playthings and has no strings relationships. Then he meets the drop dead gorgeous Layla Moorehead. With her beauty and fiery spirit, he has an instant attraction that he cannot ignore. But with her broken past, will she be open to accepting his kindness as well as his heart?

This was an unusual romance novel. It’s not all frilly and pretty, it also deals with a few of today’s hard hitting issues, drugs, verbal abuse, and rape. This book was so difficult to put down as you were drawn in immediately and held captive by Blake and show more Layla’s stories. There are quite a few tearjerker moments, so be ready to have some Kleenex ready. The situations and characters felt real, so it was very easy to connect with the main characters. Your heart will break for Layla as she tries to put her life back together and deals with her rebellious daughter. You’ll scream at Blake to wake up and see what’s in front of him. All in all, I enjoyed this book quite a bit, I even found myself thinking about it afterwards. Even if you’re not into romance novels, this is a great page turner! show less

Fighting to Forgive is book 2 in a series.  The series centers around a group of professional MMA fighters.  This book is the story of Blake "The Snake" Daniels.  He had a very big role in book 1 so we go into this book knowing a lot about him.  He is a 6'2" ex-Marine Jiu-Jitsu black belt and received his nickname because of his submissions.

Blake had a troubled childhood.  His father, a General in the Marines, was mentally abusive to him, his mother and his brother.  Blake chose to draw his father's wrath to protect the other members of his family until being sent away to military school.  After finally getting out from under his father, he is making his own way in the world of professional fighting and is known as one of the show more biggest playboys ever, usually taking home 2 or 3 girls together.  He is all about the jokes, never being serious except in the ring.  He's the group's comedian and sex god, often combining for a lewd sense of humor and behavior.  About the only rule he follows outside of the ring is never sleep with a woman who has kids.

"Well, fuck me."  Literally.  "What's a girl like you doing in a dirty mind like mine?"

When she was 16, Layla woke up after a party beside a guy realizing she had lost her virginity and later finding out she was pregnant.  They married, and he has made her life hell for years.  Her own daughter is now 16, and Layla is finally got the nerve up to leave her husband and make a better life for her and her daughter.  She gets a job working as an assistant to the guy in charge at a UFL Training Center.

That's the backdrop.  Then of course, the shit hits the fan.

Si vis pacem, para bellum.

If you want peace, prepare for war.

I love this series.  Everyone who knows me knows I love my fighters.  The author seems to really know the subject matter so of course that makes the storyline more appealing and flow more smoothly.  Also, the plots are pretty unique.  A lot of the books I read are interesting, but the story seems recycled.  So far, I have been surprised when certain things happened; I didn't already have it all figured out.  I really liked both of the books currently out in the series, but this one was my favorite.  I love Blake.  What a man he turned out to be!  Swoon.

"I want them.  They're mine."

Very well written. I really liked this book. 4 stars for me. I'm definitely reading the next installment.
I loved Blake and Layla's story. It was great to see a younger guy with an older woman. Layla was everything he didn't know he needed. Layla was damaged but fought for Blake's love. Axelle was a great addition to the story, helped pull everything together.
Fan-frigin-tastic! This is such a great book/series. The characters are perfect not to much drama and very realistic and tough but not overdone. I am now Salsbury's biggest fan girl :)
I LOVE JB writing , her male characters ROCK, usually alpha, with strong characters, her female characters in this series kick ass big time
