Description
Do you know someone who needs some encouragement? Perhaps that someone is you. In When God Makes Lemonade, author Don Jacobson has collected real-life stories from around the world that show everyday folks discovering unexpected sweetness in the midst of sour circumstances. Some are funny, others are sobering, and more than a few will bring tears of amazement. But these true stories all have one thing in common: hope. There's no question that life gives us "lemons," like issues with health, show more employment, and relationships. But when those lemons become lemonade, it's as refreshing as a cold drink on a hot summer day. It's true that in life "stuff" happens, but as you'll see in these stories, Lemonade Happens too! show lessTags

I am disabled and have some serious back issues that I will now have to live with the rest of my life, there are no more surgeries that the Doctors can do, my bones break for no reason, and I live in horrific pain every day. I do get in those slumps and start the ‘oh poor me’ and I thank God I chose this book to read and review. When God Makes Lemonade is such a refreshing, up-lifting and inspirational read, once you start reading it you will not want to put it down. I loved the stories from each individual. They will lift you up and give you the inspiration and faith to keep on keeping on. Never give up, keep that faith.
Don shares his traumatic life event, which led him to write, and thank goodness, he wrote this book. There are show more stories that will tug at your heartstrings; I found that there some stories in this book that make my problems with my disability look minor. It is true that life can throw us some serious lemons, but as you will read the stories, lemonade can be made from them.
I was given this book free by Thomas Nelson Publishing via the blogger book review program Booksneeze for an honest un-biased review, I did not receive and compensation for my review. I would like to thank them for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book. show less

I love short stories about real people that encourage and often inspire and that's just what you get in the book. I think when I read about everyday people it allows me to easily relate to what they are going thru, the bits of wisdom that I glean from these stories is invaluable.
In "God Makes Lemonade" is a compilation of over eighty short stories that really touch on a multitude of subjects. Some are heartbreaking while others are heartwarming and even though most of the stories were often only a few pages it was easy for me to feel connected to the people in the stories, and usually I felt uplifted by the stories they shared. I found a few of the stories really stood out for me and I have actually re-read them. I found the index at show more the beginning of the book very helpful in being able to mark my favorite stories .
The only complaint I have with this book is I wish the author would have grouped stories about similar topics together.
If your someone who needs a spiritual boost or just enjoy stories about real people that will encourage and inspire then your certainly going to enjoy this book. This book is a keeper for me, with stories that I will refer to often. Recommended! show less

These short stories inspire the reader by letting them know that God can bring good from bad situations. For someone who is going through a tough time, this is a book they should read. Some of these stories will make you smile, some will make you cry, all will make you see that good things can happen, even from a situation that is heartbreaking.
When God makes lemonade is a collection of true stories about people like you...everyday folk who have discovered unexpected sweetness in the midst of sour circumstances.
The former owner of Multnomah Publishers is on a mission to collect “lemonade” stories, a play on the old saying “When life hands you lemons, make lemonade”—or, as Don puts it, “Lemonade happens!” By his definition, lemonade stories are real-life stories about when life takes a sour twist but is followed with a sweet surprise. To borrow the words of Paul Harvey, a lemonade story tells the rest of the story.
