Description

Most people would describe Katherine Berger as a responsible girl with a big heart, a loyal friend who takes care of those close to her, and the possessor of a wicked sense of humor. There was something about her that most people didn't know. "My name is Kat Berger, and I love porn. "When twenty-five-year-old Kat is dragged to a porn convention by her best friend, she's both embarrassed and nervous. The last thing she ever expected was to meet someone who makes her laugh like no other. This show more is a story about acceptance and friendship, and a love born out of the most unexpected of places. Contains mature themes. show less

I shouldn't have read this book. I knew that the premise wasn't for me, but I'm trying to read all of Mariana Zapata's books (this was my tenth) so I decided to give it a try.

And somehow it was worse than I thought it would be. I disliked Kat and her friends a lot. They were proud of every bad quality that they had, but put down everyone else for doing the same things. They were judgemental, hypocritical, vulgar, gross, and unrealistic.
4.5 stars

Such a fun book. I really enjoyed Zapata's characterisations and comedy. The MCs were both ppl I think I'd like to meet and know ~ along with all the side characters. I was pleased when the author didn't extend the story into side avenues that could have been delveloped. So whilst the story isn't your every day romance, it wasn't written to shock or awe. Its just a straight forward love story, ...with a porn backdrop ;)

Narrated by Callie Dalton - 4 stars.
I’m so conflicted. I was entertained BUT there’s also no way this book would be received well today. The amount of slut shaming and fart jokes was really cringe.

I’m glad I read a few of her other books before this one.
I had a hard time forcing myself to read this. For me personally a porn star hero was a hard sell. But I generally love this author so I gave it a shot. The author did a decent job of selling it. my biggest problem with it was that the characterization of the hero was lacking. If you're going to make your hero so different from the norm I need to really understand his reasoning.. Here I never really understood why he decided to start that career other than some girl said he ought to. Also I didn't understand why he kept it up once it became problematic for him. I've placed this it this under friends to lovers but I don't think it is really that. She always wanted more and I think he was lying to himself.. A decent effort was made to show more deal with problems arising from having a porn star boyfriend but more could have been made of that and also one problem which was brought up was just dropped. Also I had trouble thinking that a porn star would be all that great of a lover. That's really not what porn is all about. show less
I adored this story. I had been told that it was wonderful over and over, but I had never even taken the time to read the blurb. I had no idea it involved porn stars. What a nice surprise! I love the interaction between all the friends. The way they support each other and the banter are great. I developed a crush on both the male and female leads. This is a must read for RomCom lovers.
I LOVE this book. It's sweet, funny, sassy, and sexy. But it's not really about sex at all and I hesitate to classify it as a romance novel. It's my favorite of Mariana Zapata's and that says a lot. She has become one of my favorite authors.
Weak finish and lack of third act drama (plenty of problems alluded throughout the book but they all come to naught) make this unique story a low 3.
