2.5 Stars
Was interesting but also disjointed in places.
Also, no sex scenes. Just a lot of build up that goes no where.
Cliffhanger & 'CLEAN'. Yuck!
Book Rejected. Not For Me.
Wish I had know that Before I read it.

I really enjoyed this book. It was such a fun read. High paced, action filled, and with a touch of romance. It had all the right ingredients to make me want to keep reading.

The story starts with Erin, who suffers a terrible car crush and is burnt over most of her body. Although she should have died, she soon wakes up without a trace of the accident on her body. That’s how she discovers she is Unbounded, a nearly immortal being with fantastical abilities. Unfortunately for her, that means she has to abandon her old life and join a shadow war between powerful factions.

Although the premise might sound a little generic, this book is all about execution. It is a fun, good read. It is interesting and makes you want to keep turning the page. Erin is good protagonist, struggling to adjust to her new life and learning who she can and cannot trust. She makes mistakes, but she doesn’t dwell in self-pity or indecisiveness. She is an active protagonist.

I would definitely recommend that you read The Change by Teyla Branton. ( )

The writing is excellent. The world is consistent. The characters seem real despite the Unbounded. The pace and plot kept me reading. Altogether an absorbing reading adventure. ( )

To date, I've had bad luck with e-books. This one is proving different. Interesting opening, quirky concept (can't say unique, but definitely a different take on the being immortal thing), and interesting characters. Just hoping it holds up through the whole book. This book drew me in better than I thought. The concept held up through the end of the book. Sometimes, it felt like an Unbounded was always right there, all the time. Or right when they needed it.

My biggest complaint is the main character using her ability with absolutely no training, no experience, and it working. It never seemed to stumble or fail. She misunderstood it, but didn't fail using it. Either she's a powerful savant, or the author didn't think the story would benefit from failures. Either way, it creates an issue for me. The romance felt very forced. A guy had animal magnetism? Really? Yeah, too much of a jerk to keep that attracting women.

The writing flowed well, almost no chop, which also helped to draw me in. Too many ebooks have chopping writing.

This book has me interested in the series to see where the author goes with the concept. I'm debating buying the next in the series now... ( )
