Based on S. H. Steinberg's classic Historical Tables, The Wilson Calendar of World History has been thoroughly updated, modernized, redesigned & expanded. A concise chronology of human history, this volume covers 25,000 events, & features expanded coverage of the arts & sciences as well as events in Latin America, Asia, & Africa. The book is divided into seven epochs: 3500 B.C.-44 B.C. 43 B.C.-A.D. 399, 400-1453; 1454-1774; 1775-1939; 1939-1945; 1946-1998. Each epoch is divided into six columns (across a two-page spread) whose categories vary from epoch to epoch, reflecting the dynamics & events of the period. The columnar format provides continuity & flexibility by allowing readers to follow events throughout recorded history in a single area of the world or throughout the world in a single year. Birth & death dates are provided (when known) for each individual upon first mention. The Wilson Calendar of World History includes a highly specific & thoroughly comprehensive index to people, places, events, concepts, inventions, discoveries & titles of works. The index guides readers not only to the page but to the column in which a name or term appears. TO ORDER: H.W. WILSON -- 1-800-367-6770 (1-718-588-8400 outside the U.S.& Canada), or visit www.hwwilson.com.… (more)
