Edward Bogard Bogie for short may be blind, but he can learn just about anything he sets his mind to: riding a bike, parasailing, playing guitar. Even though many things come easily to him, he stunned when he hits at a driving range and finds he has the swing of a pro. But blind golfing is a team sport, and Bogie needs a coach.
Enter Birdie, the kooky and mysterious girl next door. A bit of a loner, Birdie creates elaborate worlds in miniature in her basement, and has managed to make it to age twelve without learning to ride a bike.
Then someone anonymously enters Bogie in a golf tournament-with a million dollar prize. If he can team up with Birdie to conquer the greens of Hawai'i, could she be the unlikely key to victory? Ed "Bogie" Bogart is blind, but he inadvertently discovers he's a natural at golf. He is invited to join a youth tournament with a grand prize of one million dollars. Despite the possibility of winning a lot of money, Bogie's real motivation for winning is to beat his nemesis. If you want to know how a blind person plays golf, read The Million Dollar Putt by Dan Gutman (Gut as in Rut, not boot). This is on the shelf at my high school library, but it's certainly more appropriate for upper elementary or middle school students. A quick, fun read for adults.
A very fun, quick read. On the young end, but we don't have other golf books--and in Michigan, at least, golf is definitely a sport! Likable main characters who learn life lessons from one another. Funny, too!
Million dollar is about a kid named Ed "Bogie" Bogart. In this book he discovers that he is a natural golfer. The only problem is that he's blind. Based on his talent he joins a youth tournament. The winner's prize obviously an a million dollar prize. This book may have been called million dollar putt, but Ed is not focused winning the money, rather he is more motivated to beat his enemy. This book has no extreme moral and I read this many years ago, but I remember this is one of the many books that I really enjoyed as a kid. this book is definitely for younger teens and if adults want to read this they can it's not only meant for younger kids. This book is a quick fun read with a very interesting storyline
The million dollar putt. wow!! such a good book.It is about a blind kid playing golf. I loved reading that book. I just cant understand how a blind kid could win a million dollars playing golf. Bogie is a very very good golfer
it is good because it is awesome. But the book is about how he plays golf in Hawaii.
