A lite-hearted fantasy romp. A human, an ogre, and a dwarf travel to find the elusive Fury Clock. Mayhem, madness, and hilarious missteps happen all along the way! I really enjoyed this! Since it IS a 'Book 1', I hope there are more coming soon. Malix Shandy is an enjoyable character! ( )

I received this book in exchange for writing an honest review.
What a fantasy! In a world where nothing is as it seems Macim Shandy must attain the fury clock in order to save his life. Accompanied by a dwarf and an ogre he sets out on an adventure. Imaginative, creative and captavating that will keep you turning pages. ( )

This was a swashbuckling adventure jam packed with humorous absurdities. I would have appreciated a little more space and time for reflection within the novel. It felt like it moved so quickly from action to action that it was hard to even appreciate all of the nice little funny bits. ( )

Story synopsis: Malix Shandy’s life depends on finding the Fury Clock. To complete this quest, he enlists the reluctant aid of an ogre and a dwarf. His adventures take him through many realms, including a bar with a door to nowhere.
Review: This author reminds me quite strongly of Jasper Fforde because of the level of word-silliness. Although the reading level isn’t as difficult as Fforde’s, the reader still has to pay attention or miss some of the quirkiness that makes this book enjoyable. The elves in tight pants are a real treat.
Author information: Christopher Bunn has had many jobs that support his past-time of writing and playing music. For more about the author visit http://christopherbunn.com/about/. ( )

I received this book through librarything.com.

I have always felt that a little Terry Pratchett goes a long way and Mr. Bunn's book comes to me when I am over my limit for humorous fantasy. But if you like this kind of thing, it isn't bad – lots of stinking ogres, stupid dwarfs, insufferable elves, evil wizards and assorted other genre standards. As usual the cast does not have a brain to share among them and everyone makes all manner of idiotic decisions. I rather wish this were a straight fantasy. It might be gripping without the humor.

A moderate number of proofreading errors and wrong word choices in the .mobi file I received. ( )

The platter of succulent and delicious roast boar sailed through the air, missed the tavern keeper's head by an inch, and smashed against the mirror behind the bar in a shower of hot gravy and glass.
