In the interest of self-education, and because I loved the Oscar short "Hair Love" (google it if you haven't seen it yet!), I borrowed this from openlibrary. I am so glad I did. It's gorgeous. History, poetry, interviews, reproductions of advertisements, of paintings, etc.

One poem is short enough to copy and representative, from p. 74:

HALO

The Lord,
She took her time -
To curl
every
strand
of my hair
to create
My Crown -
My Glory -
My Halo!

Quotations, lots of photos, history, and more.
