Good story, good intro to the Shadow Unit universe. A little weird with the timeline jumping, but it does allow an action scene at the beginning and then the slow structuring as we're introduced to the characters and the setup, and they move into place to fill that action scene with the persons we now know. Daphne is a bit annoying with her lack of self-esteem - and in this episode (Shadow Unit is written as scripts/story for a TV show), I don't think we get to see behind anyone else's face, much. Maybe a few comments (writing after having read a good many later episodes...) on how Daphne is trying to work out how to fit in and doesn't know she already does.
Part 1 of a multiple author series of short stories about the Shadow Unit, an FBI division that hunts down people called gammas, who are infected with a parasite that turns them into superpowered serial killers. Well written, but like the first episode of a TV series, this story is mostly concerned with introducing the characters.
