A masterly crafted story, Death by Meeting challenges leaders to make meetings matter – to release the drama, tension, and debate that are innate in most workplace discussions, and yet subdued by pretense, office politics, and lack of unifying purpose. Lencioni calls teams to commit to the dramatization and contextualization of meetings. First, let discussion stir passion. Mine for conflict. Embrace disagreement. Secondly, one must understand the division of labor among meetings. Lencioni highlights four unique types of meetings: the daily check-in, the weekly tactical, the monthly strategic, and the quarterly off-site. Each meeting is focused, purposeful, and deliberate. Lencioni is clear and compelling. A
Another wonderful story by Lencioni, giving bone to the phrase "Death by Meeting". It is true that most meetings are boring, and Lencioni has identified two of the few fundamental problems of formal get-togethers; providing solutions to improving them by the way of structure and conflict. And that's wonderful.
What is missing and would have been beneficial would be to tackle other issues as well. Nevertheless, this book provides a good framework and platform to improve the quality of meetings intuitively over time.

Great Book - really fresh concepts on how to bring your meeting alive and create an atmosphere people are anxious to come to - in fact one they don't want to miss. Mr. Lencioni has some very fresh ideas on an oft ignored topic that plagues us all almost everday...
A solid book about meetings, their purpose(s), and how implementing them properly can save time.
Like some of Lencioni's other books, the rules about meetings are first wrapped in a story, and then explained in detail afterwards, making it easier for a reader to get through, as well as to internalize.
While I think the book is directly targeted at upper management, rather than people lower on the totem pole, there's something here for everyone.

After rereading Lencioni's book on teamwork, I decided to pick up a couple of his other works. This one I found to be not as applicable to my current workplace environment, and so wasn't quite as enjoyable or useful as "The Five Dysfunctions of a Team."
Quick easy read about optimization of meetings. The book starts with a short relatable parable about a company having trouble with (surprise surprise) meetings. The story sets up the executive summary well. The four types of meetings the book recommends are the daily checkin, weekly tactical, monthly (or ad hoc) strategic, and quarterly off site review. Each meeting has separate objectives and relate to each other. If you want just the summary of key points, read the executive summary at the end. Not everything will be applicable to everyone, but there are some useful nuggets.
一本討論如何開會的小書,以一則故事的方式呈現。書中的技巧可說是相當實用,然而其講述的對象主要是公司內部的簡單會議。對於諸多規定的民主團體會議時就不太管用,但是開會領導的基本精神是一致的。
