I was drawn to this book because of it's mob and biker gang story-line. The two combined were intriguing. I was curious on how this story would go. A mob boss's daughter... defecting to a motorcycle gang to stay safe from her own family.
First, I was enthralled with the plot... The Alex's family was interesting. Her relationship with them was perfect for this story-line. She loved her family, but being the girl of the family, she was always more in the shadows than the forefront. Her father is an old-fashioned Italian mob man. Alex wants to be a modern day girl. She wants to get out and live. She wants to fall in love. However, that is not the life she is afforded. Her dad has other plans for her. Marrying into the mob, show more officially, is what he plans for her life. His belief is a woman is to know her place. Alex, well, knows her place, but doesn't know it one bit.
Things go awry. Trust is broken between Alex and her family... well her dad, brother and cousin. Alex is now forced into hiding from her own family. She is scared and confused. She thought she made the right decision. That decision, instead of helping her family, has put her life on the line... she now fears her own family may want her life.
Alex felt like an outcast in her own home. Now she is thrust into a new world, where she feels just as out of place. She slowly starts to learn that embracing a life you didn't know could exist can free your inner soul.
Enter Ryan. These two are drawn together, but know the rules. They are off-limits to one another. This makes them want each other even more. They both struggle, for the same and different reason, to stay away. As they slowly form a bond, things start to get intense. Their newly found friendship could cost them both important things. It could also cost them both their lives.
This story is an emotional roller coaster. I was so glad to be on this ride. J.C. did a fantastic job in going from one scenario to the next. Her ability to portray the characters' feelings and actions is remarkable. Their interactions are very convincing and realistic. The twists and turns in the plot can someone been foreseen, if paying enough attention, but shocking nonetheless. As things start to really come to a head, many life changing secrets have been revealed, and Alex's family has come for her.... And, that folks, is where the book ends...
I am highly recommending this book to anyone who likes to read... no matter what you like to read. This is a wonderful book. I cannot wait to read the next book. I need to know what happens next.... I have a feeling I may need a tissue or two!!! show less

I had alot of hope for this story. The cover in itself kicks ass, but the story and the characters........ I just did not like the way Alex and Ryan where. Matter of fact I really disliked Ryan. He was just an Asshole, all the way through. I mean I understand he is a biker in a club, but at some point you should have a soft spot for a girl your having feelings for. He just was so mean, nasty, treated her like garbage and at no point was truly emotional in the feelings department.hell he was hurting her emotionally on purpose. You don't do that to someone you care about, never mind someone you love.
I will continue with the series because I love J.C. and I am hoping with the next one things get better with the characters and show more story
Look at that Freaking cover DAMN !!!! I can not wait for this release !!!

Third-generation Forsaken, Ryan knows nothing other than life on two wheels, and he wouldn’t have it any other way. He enjoys the many privileges that come with the patch, and the only laws he recognizes are the ones set-forth by his club. EXCLUSIVE EXCERPT:
“Princess wants to have fun,” he says, leading me toward the kitchen, and past Ryan and that stupid bitch who still hasn’t let go of his neck.
With every step that brings me closer to Ryan, my heart rate speeds up little by little. Brushing past them, a calloused finger reaches out, wrapping itself around my pinky. His touch sends waves of heat and bolts of anger through my entire body. I don’t want him touching me, but my body craves it. The more distance I put between us the farther our arms must stretch to keep the contact.
And we do for as long as possible.
A quick look back and I find Ryan’s arm reaching out, his index finger slipping from its grip on my pinky. We lose contact and suddenly I’m not nearly drunk enough for this shit. Turning my attention toward the kitchen, I bring the bottle of whiskey to my lips intent on making everything so blurry I won’t be able to remember what Ryan’s touch feels like. show less
