I was gifted three different Thunder Point novels and thought I'd gotten them in the correct order, but now I see that this is book 5. I don't know what the others are since the numbers aren't anywhere on the books that I could find. It does explain why I felt like there was such a large cast of characters that I couldn't keep track of who was who and who was related to who and how.

I liked the story but wish it could have been told without the sex scenes. I was a bit surprised that Peyton would sleep with someone she wasn't serious about, especially coming off of her relationship with Ted.

Thunder Point seems like a great little town. One where the residents care about each other and try to help each other out. Of course, this also show more means that it's easy for everyone to know other's business--the not so nice part of small town living if you want privacy.

I think I related to Peyton's character because of a past experience with a guy I hoped would become a boyfriend. We were friends, but I later found out that he was hiding seeing someone else while using me to fund his business deals. Sort of keeping my hopes that he'd love me alive to use my resources to get what he wanted for himself. I felt that Ted's relationship with Peyton was sort of that way. I can also relate to how something like that changes a person, so I could see why Peyton was a bit leery at first when a new relationship comes up.

I loved this story - I have been waiting for Scott to get his his own happy ever after. I love Robyn Carr's Virgin River, and have found that Thunder Point is just as great a place to visit. The people are friendly and welcoming and watch out for each other. That is just what Scott had been looking for when he moved to Thunder Point.

Scott's wife had died four years earlier when his daughter was born. For awhile he was just barely making it from day to day. Then he realized that he needed to make some changes. There were a couple things driving his decision. First, his mother and mother-in-law were driving him crazy. They were so competitive for the children's attention that he had no peace. Second, he wanted to be able to spend more show more time with his kids, which meant that a busy city practice wasn't a good fit. When he discovered that Thunder Point needed a doctor for its clinic, it was a perfect fit. The only thing it didn't really have was much scope for dating.

Peyton was looking for a temporary job while she decides what to do with her future. She is a physician's assistant who had just ended a three year relationship with a man who was a doctor and her boss. She was in love with him, but as much as she had tried to connect with his children, it just didn't happen. Then she found out he was also cheating on her. She sees Scott's ad for a PA and decides to check it out. It's like nothing she's ever done before, but she's willing to give it a try.

I loved how quickly Peyton became an important part of the town. She discovers that she has missed the small town atmosphere like the one she grew up in, now that she's been away from it for awhile. The values are much more like what she was used to, and the further away she was from her former relationship, the more she realized how wrong it had been for her. She's still not planning to get involved with Scott, not matter how appealing she finds him. But he and his family are so different that she quickly finds herself getting attached.

I liked the way that she and Scott became friends first. Scott was attracted to her from the first, but a rather funny misunderstanding made him think she was out of reach. Once that was straightened out, I enjoyed seeing them get to know each other and learn just how much they had in common. That's not to say they didn't each have their issues. Peyton was still very wary of risking her heart with a man who had children. She also has a very caring heart that makes it hard to refuse to help someone in need, and this causes some trouble when one of her ex's kids comes to her with a crisis. Scott has some problems believing that Peyton would be willing to pass up a much better job in order to stay in Thunder Point. He also has a little bit of an inferiority complex when he tries to compare himself to her ex.

I loved seeing the two of them keep getting closer, but got a bit frustrated when neither seemed to actually be talking to the other. A little bit better communication would have gone a long way toward reducing their problems. Scott makes some pretty big assumptions that get him into trouble.

I loved the secondary characters. Peyton's family was especially great. It was easy to see that her values came from her big family and the way that they believed in hard work and accountability. It was also fun to see Scott and his kids get swept up in the whole group when everyone came together for the harvest. I also enjoyed seeing more of other residents of Thunder Point. No big info dumps, just the day to day exposure to others, such as Cooper and Sarah, who have their baby, and Gina and Mac and the job change he is going through. That also brings the return of a character who will likely have his own book soon. Gina's mom Carrie has a crisis that has help coming from an unexpected direction. I'm looking forward to seeing what might come from that wrinkle.

4.5 stars! This isn't a book or even a series that is going to make you laugh till your sides hurt or cry till you can't see straight BUT it is a series that is guaranteed to put a smile on your face and just plain make you feel good about yourself and about life every time you read one of them! The Promise is no exception! I devoured this book and loved catching up with previous characters and meeting new ones. The tender sweet moments between Scott and his kids are the best! And Peyton's family is pretty great too.

Besides being a little repetitive at times it was a total win for me!
This was a good story about one of my favorite characters in the series although it was a little milder than the other books in the series much like the doctor himself, adorable, solid and steady. Physicians Assistant Payton is getting over a bad relationship and is hired by Dr Scott.
rabck from mdm139; Widowed doc, Scott Grant moves to town with his two young kids. He's not adverse to romance, but has found the right one yet. Enter Peyton, a PA running from a bad relationship with her old boss, a cardiologist, and the last thing she wants is romance. She only wants a 3 month job to figure out what next.
4 STARS

I like Thunder Point. It is a small beach town in Oregon. The characters are old friends. There are some newcomers too. I want to read more about the characters. The scenery sounds wonderful. I would visit it.
I like how people help others with what they can.

Peyton Lacoumette is new to Thunder Point. Peyton just came from a broken relationship both personal and professional. She is a physician's assistant. She agrees to stay for three months and work at the clinic as she decides what she wants next.

Dr. Scott Grant has opened a small clinic in Thunder Point. He wants to make a difference in peoples lives. He is also a single father with two adorable children. He will never be rich.

This book is set in Thunder Point but a lot of the show more story happens away from it too. Which is a little different.

I really like Peyton's family. I hope we get to see more of them in the future too. It was fascinating to hear about life on her family's farm and the different recipes her mom fixed.

We get to see what the others in previous books are up to now. All the different characters and the drama of life makes a very well rounded story that brings me back to Thunder Point again and again.

One scene in the book that I would love to do some day but doubt I can do. Is at night in the ocean a bunch of teenagers are laying on their long boards and flashlights looking down into the ocean and see all the life in the ocean.

Peyton has in her life two doctors that are single parents. They are the opposite to each other in most ways.
How they parent are vastly different. Scott is involved in his children's lives. He gives back to the community more than just money.

There was a few love scenes that I skipped over.

I really enjoy the drama in the characters lives and relationships and will want to read more books in the Thunder Point series in the future.

I was given this ebook to read and asked in return to give honest review of it by Netgalley and Harlequin.

I think this one is my favorite so far of this series. It may be that it's taken me a while to 'get to know' these characters but I was just waiting for Scott's story and this did not disappoint.
