First off, let's get this out of the way, this was a keeper for me. A book I reviewed awhile ago, I put "this is why I read historical romance". Well, this is why I read contemporary biker romance. I state biker because let's be honest, with the sudden overwhelming influx of this trope, it deserves its own category.
This is part of a series and if you read the previous book (Reaper's Legacy) you are ahead of the game and probably have been eagerly awaiting Em and Hunter's story. Since half of this book takes place during the time period of Reaper's Legacy, you're fine if you just want to start with this one and have not read the previous books.
The first 70% or so of this book was oh so good. We learn that Hunter, as part of a rival show more motorcycle club the Devil's Jacks, is tasked with the assignment of keeping tabs on Em, the daughter of the president of the hated Reapers. Their relationship starts online and Em, who only knows Hunter as Liam, starts to fall for Hunter through their conversations. She eventually agrees to meet up with him and there starts the story of holy hot sexual tension, chemistry, betrayal, push/pull, and love/hate.
You see, Hunter kidnaps Em and tries to use her against her father and MC club. Em does not take to this too kindly. We get to see Em come out of her shell, her strength, and raw emotions regarding Hunter. Hunter shows us his ability to control his emotions (well almost with Em), ruthlessness, and weaknesses. These characters are well drawn with past histories created that lead to believable motivations, actions, and emotions. These two want to be together but with a Romeo and Juliet vibe, they must battle for that to happen. The action part of the storyline deals with the two MCs struggling to trust one another and learn more about a cartel that could be working to encroach on their territory.
The beginning of the book flies by, the story pacing just right, only hurried because I was so engrossed in the book and wanted to know where it was all leading. The last 30% or so, I felt like the pace slowed down for me a bit. Em and Hunter are working on being together (this could be a personal problem because I like tension ;) and we lose a little bit of the excitement of the chase and biker tension. The character of Hunter mellows out more. The author acknowledges this with an "author's note" and states this book could be considered more New Adult than her previous ones. I'm not the biggest New Adult fan and thought this one was sexier than the usual in that genre and had no problems with the character of Hunter; don't let a New Adult tag scare you away.
Em's father, Picnic, is the main secondary character (struggling with letting his daughter grow up) and I imagine we are going to see a book in his honor with the rotating parade of women to his door ending. Other notables include Kit (Em's sister) and Cookie and Deke ( Definitely a story there with these two).
Books like this are my guilty pleasure and this was a great enjoyable one. Read it if you at all like romance and definitely if you like biker romance. show less

I thought Em's story was going to be a little more complicated than it was shown here based on what we read on Reaper's Legacy. With that being said, they were good together, but the level if sexual frustration and chemistry between Em and Liam didn't even come close to Soph and Ruger; they're my favorite so far. The plot with the cartel and the peace between the two clubs is getting more and more interesting. Can't wait for more.
The only thing really wrong with this book is that it ended and I wanted to just keep on reading. I enjoyed both characters. I liked that the hero was pretty unapologetic about his life style. The author just went right there with he was an enforcer He killed people for the club. and didn't try to change his character. His change was that he learned to love the heroine and give to her and live more for her than the club. And that right there is the essence of romance novels. The fantasy that a woman becomes the end all and be all for a man. I'm not apologizing for loving that.
I liked the heroine also. I liked that she believed in him and that as soon as he made it possible, she stuck with him and was not wishy washy about her show more feelings.
The overarching storyline moved along and made sense for the most part. The author I guess says this is more of a NA MC romance but I'm not real sure about that. The characters were young but the situations and sex scenes were not toned down in any way.
Loved it and can't wait for the next one. show less

4.25 Stars
I really enjoyed this one. Plenty of suspense and steamy ADULT romance.
Loved Em! Hunter was awesome. Neither of them disappointed me.
Em is one tough cookie that doesn't look the part on the surface. She comes off as a bit goofy and clumsy. But trust me, that just makes her more scary when her Badass self makes itself known.
Hunter was amazing. Loved how he accepted and adored Em. Respected her.
The only reason this didn't hit 5 stars is there were a couple of parts that seemed to lag a bit for me.
Really looking forward to reading the next in this series!

~ 4.5 Devil Stars ~
Devil’s Game is book three in the Reapers MC series by Joanna Wylde. Hands down this is my absolute favorite MC series and by far Devil’s Game is the best yet. I could not put this book down, but then I look at the clock, realizes it’s midnight and I have a child who likes to get up at dawn.
This series is gritty and sizzling MC biker romance that is incredibly well written. The relationship of Hunter and Em is built on lies and deceit with them thrown into situations that fall under the title “For the Good of the Club”. Just watching these two battle the club and their own feelings is heart wrenching and emotional. We start the book off with a young Em and Hunter seeing them as teens, then we go on to show more recapping the kidnapping that happened in Reaper’s Legacy, to Em & Sophie. Ms. Wylde does an amazing job re-telling Reaper’s Legacy from Hunter and Em’s perspective, giving us an honest balanced inside perspective on both ends, that help the reader understand the MC world better and deeper. We also have some really great twist and turns in this story that will keep you on the edge.
Devil’s Game will take you on a fast-paced ride through the MC world. Hold on tight, because once you start this sexy intense book you are in for an invigorating ride that does’t let off until the last page.

What’s a girl to do when she ends up with the hots for man who is part of a rival MC. Well kick him in the nuts for one grin
This book has many aspects to it. First we get a glimpse of both Emmy and Liam’s child hoods before fast forwarding to a section of time revisited from Reaper's Legacy finally getting to see what went on behind closed doors between Em and Liam during the kidnapping then finally coming to current day where the truce between the Reapers and Devil Jacks is still paper thin and someone seems to want that truce blown away.
Until I finished this book I couldn’t image how these two were going to make this romance work. Em is the president’s daughter of the Reapers and Liam owes his life to the Devil Jacks. I was show more rooting for these two and I wasn’t disappointed with their story. Em was a great heroine that stayed true to herself. Liam on the other hand had to go through lots of changes and was never afraid to take Em’s anger when he messed up – which he did a lot.
As Liam was half of this story we got a big glimpse into the Devil Jacks and its members and I wonder if we’ll get some of their stories one day – defiantly like one about Liam’s foster sister.
Because the next book in the series is about Picnic it was great to have the scenes with him and Em’s mom when she was alive to give us a better understanding of the love those two had and to see that the reasons he sleeps with so many women is his way of dealing with the grief. I for one think its high time a new woman comes into his life that makes him stop his man ho ways and finally gets to have a healthy happy relationship again.
This was another great book in the series and cant wait for the next. show less

Having read the first 2 books in this series it was inevitable I would read the third, but I didnt realise I would love it as much and if not more than the first two!
In book 2 we briefly meet Emmy Hayes, Picnic's eldest daughter - I kind of liked her in that but book 3 is dedicated to her story, how she feels about Hunter and the difficult situation they find themselves in when they refuse to give each other up!
I like that she's got a bit of spirit and most definitely won't lie down and let people walk all over her, I also like how he has fallen hard for this no nonsense girl who has no intentions of letting him or Picnic get away with treating her like a baby or a pawn!
If you liked book 1 and 2 then give this a go, I couldn't put it show more down and feel sure if you love the Reapers and Devil's Jacks you won't be able to put it down either! show less
